The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Friday, August 20 Recap – Stitch’s Excuse – Mariah’s Terror - Adam Comforts Sharon

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, August 20, reveals that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will try to comfort Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) while Ben “Stitch” Rayburn (Sean Carrigan) offers a job confusion excuse. Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will also feel total terror as she considers what’ll happen if she’s forced to give birth alone.

At the Chancellor mansion on Friday’s episode, Stitch will claim there was an issue at the hospital Max Rayburn (Jared Breeze) is staying in.

Stitch will assure Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) that Max is stabilized now.

Stitch will ask questions about Mariah’s latest texts and will get updates on the phone signal being scrambled. He’ll toss around some suggestions, but there won’t be much he can do from Abby’s perspective.

Abby will just be glad to know Stitch is there and that he cares.

While Tessa goes to check on Sharon, Abby will decide they need more help and will visit the ranch with Stitch by her side.

After Victor hears what’s going on with Mariah, he’ll wonder why Abby didn’t come to him sooner.

Victor will feel confident he can help, so Abby will be glad to have her father’s resources on her side.

Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) will score some backup as well when he gets Denise Tolliver (Telma Hopkins) to come out of retirement for this case.

Devon will point out that a child is in danger and will hope Denise can prevent a tragedy, so she’ll push him to reveal all the details of the investigation.

Once Denise is up to speed, she’ll vow to do everything she can to find Mariah and the baby.

In captivity, Mariah will keep talking to Bowie and will suggest he’s the only thing keeping her sane in this endless nightmare.

Mariah will hope it’s a good sign that the kidnapper hasn’t let her see him since it could mean he’s planning on letting them go.

At Crimson Lights, Tessa will fill Sharon in on Stitch coming back and checking Abby.

When Tessa tears up over the possibility that Mariah will never come home, Sharon will push her to stay positive and hold onto the love she shares with her girlfriend.

Tessa will curl up on the Chancellor mansion’s sofa later and cry over missing Mariah.

As Mariah says she’s so scared, Y&R will cut back and forth between Mariah and Tessa to highlight their connection. Once Abby and Stitch return, Tessa will tell them she can feel how terrified Mariah is.

Tessa will feel like there must be something they’re missing, so she’ll dash off to write some music and hopefully get her creative juices flowing.

Abby will start to fall apart in a moment alone with Stitch, but she’ll stop herself and insist on staying strong for Mariah as well as the baby.

Once Devon stops by, he’ll tell Abby about hiring his own PI. Devon will grow curious about Stitch’s return to town since Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) scored the chief of surgery position at Memorial.

Stitch will claim he didn’t want to get into this with everything that was going on, but he missed out on the job because they needed someone who could start right away.

Abby will understand that Stitch had to be with Max, but she’ll be confused about why he came back to Genoa City.

Stitch will insist he felt like he should come check on Abby, so she’ll suggest she’ll never forget how he’s been there for her as well as Mariah during this crisis.

At Society, Adam will run into Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), who’ll offer to buy her new boss a drink.

Adam will mention something about HR policies, so Sally will sarcastically suggest he’s such a stickler for rules.

Sally will suggest Adam is rich anyway and can buy his own, but he’ll feel confident in her future at Newman Media and will be willing to have that drink after all.

After Sally orders the same expensive single malt as Adam, she’ll prove she’s got an impressive palette by accurately describing almost all the nuances.

When Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) arrive, Chloe won’t be pleased to see Sally has ignored her repeated warnings about Adam.

Sally will waltz over to interrupt, but Adam will urge Chloe to relax and will add that he was just getting to know the new hire a bit better.

After Adam exits, Chloe will once again warn Sally about falling for Adam’s “great guy routine.”

Sally will meet Kevin, who’ll agree with Chloe about the risks when it comes to Adam.

Chloe will argue that her support for second chances doesn’t extend to “the town sociopath.” She’ll point out that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Ordway) was a con artist who thought she could handle Adam, but she wound up in a psych ward.

Sally still won’t seem all that concerned, but Chloe will make it clear that anyone who lets his or her guard down with Adam lives to regret it.

Afterward, Chloe and Kevin will discuss the missing Mariah case.

Despite their disdain for Adam, neither one of them will believe that he’d terrorize Sharon’s daughter.

At the coffeehouse, Adam will show up right as Sharon’s closing up. He’ll ask about Mariah and wish there was something he could do to help.

Adam will suggest that if anyone can find Mariah, it’s Rey. He’ll be praying that Mariah comes home safe and sound, so Sharon will express her gratitude.

Next, Adam will stop by the ranch, where he’ll mention Rey’s grilling session along with his Sharon visit.

Adam will admit that Sharon seems to be hanging by a thread after everything she’s been through. He won’t think this whole Mariah situation looks good at all.

Back in captivity, Mariah will tell Bowie about all the plans they had for his birth – including Tessa’s music in the delivery room.

Abby and Tessa were also going to be right by Mariah’s side helping her through this.

It’ll suddenly dawn on Mariah that the psycho keeping her there might force her to give birth alone.

Mariah won’t know if she can do it and will fear something could go wrong. Mariah will crumble under the weight of her emotions as she breaks down sobbing.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Mariah’s ordeal is about to get even worse, so stay tuned!
