The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that it’ll soon be time for Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) to sign on the dotted line. Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) talked about having all the appropriate contracts drawn up – just to ensure everyone’s rights are protected.
Now that Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) has agreed to serve as a sperm donor, that’s another person involved to make this messy. It’s important for everybody to have a lawyer and get all the legal aspects squared away.
Mariah may be doing this as a heartfelt gesture for her friend, but she still has to sign a surrogacy contract and make all this legit. Abby will be picking up the tab for Mariah’s attorney fees, so there’ll be no worries there.
Brittany Hodges (Lauren Woodland) will serve as Mariah’s lawyer and will guide her through the contract process.
The formal agreement should be straightforward and pretty average in terms of what a gestational carrier would expect. However, there could be another problem that results from the meeting.
This will make the surrogacy itself seem quite real for Mariah. The harsh reality of what Mariah’s doing will set in, so she’ll start to battle some doubts.
Before Mariah officially signs on, she’ll want to make sure Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) is genuinely on board. Y&R fans know Tessa has been supportive since the moment she found out what Abby was asking.
Tessa could sense that Mariah wanted to consider the idea early on, so she offered plenty of encouragement.
As Mariah gets ready to begin the next surrogacy phase, she may fear that Tessa was just saying what she thought she should say. Mariah will want to know where Tessa truly stands on the matter.
Regardless of how Tessa really feels, she should make it clear that Mariah’s the one who’ll be carrying this baby. That means Mariah has to be the one to decide.
Tessa might suspect that Mariah’s own second thoughts are the real issue here. Perhaps Tessa will flip the question around on Mariah and wonder if she’s genuinely still on board with helping Abby.
This is a huge deal, so no one would blame Mariah for reconsidering under the circumstances.
That’s especially true since Mariah will be carrying her ex-boyfriend’s baby! This child will be Abby’s, but it’ll also be Devon’s kid growing inside Mariah – and that could make it weird if Mariah really thinks about it.
Whatever the case, The Young and the Restless spoilers confirm that Mariah will indeed have second thoughts about the surrogacy, but will they be enough for her to pump the brakes?
Mariah won’t want to let Abby down, but this is a massive commitment and not something she should do if she isn’t certain.
