The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) may finally surrender to Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) job offer. Will Rey stun Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) with some Newman security team news?
Back in August, Victor had a proposal for Rey to consider. He hoped Rey might join his private security firm, which would provide more money, additional time at home and a career path where Rey doesn’t put his life on the line daily.
Rey rejected the offer, but Victor seemed convinced the detective would come around sooner or later.
That was an awfully weird conversation to include without a goal in mind. It’s possible the writers dropped it, but it’s also possible they planted a seed that’ll grow into a story.
Perhaps it was about laying the groundwork for what would ultimately happen this fall.
During the week of October 25-29, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will push Rey to go after Adam Newman (Mark Grossman).
Billy will explain Jesse Gaines’ (Jamison Jones) disappearance and point the finger at Adam, but there won’t be anything Rey can do without real evidence.
Even so, there’s a chance Billy could stir up Rey’s vengeful side again – maybe even to the point where Rey would be willing to infiltrate Victor’s inner circle to score takedown proof.
Could Rey go undercover by accepting Victor’s job offer? Rey might be able to find out some dirty Newman secrets that way.
However, it’s also possible Rey will let Billy make trouble on his own. Billy is falling right into a Gaines-related trap that Victor’s setting, which could end with ChancComm taking a serious hit.
If Gaines is actually fine somewhere, Rey might see the danger in being obsessed and out of control like Billy.
Now that Sharon has welcomed Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) home, that could also serve as a reminder of the importance of family. Rey may decide he needs more time for his personal life – and taking Victor up on his job offer would allow that.
Y&R set up this career shift for Rey, so it’s just a matter of when and why they’ll pull the trigger on it.
