We get that Phyllis loves Summer Newman (Hunter King), but this weepy woman needs to get a grip!
Summer is working at her dream job in Milan, but Phyllis is mourning the loss like she’s dead or something.
It’s not like this is even the first time Summer has left town and lived away from Genoa City. It feels like the show’s going overboard when it comes to Phyllis’ dramatic despair.
That brings us to what could be a giant dialogue hint from the August 12 episode. “Summer’s my only daughter!” Phyllis wailed to Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).
That seems like a weird thing to specify to Phyllis’ boyfriend and Summer’s father, who should obviously know.
This feels like the prime setup for Phyllis to in fact have more than one daughter. All this “only” daughter talk could mean Phyllis has another one that’ll be revealed – and her foe Sally Spectra is the most logical candidate.
Plus, it felt significant when Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) made that comment about Phyllis and Sally being just alike.
The pieces are coming together for Phyllis to find out she’s Sally’s mom and want to build a relationship with her.
No matter how the show rewrites things so it’s possible, there’s no denying that the clues are right in front of us.
There’s also no denying that Phyllis adores Summer, so she may move past Sally’s mistakes rather quickly if she learns there’s a blood connection between them.
It’s Sally who may push Phyllis away and insist she can keep her mother-daughter bonding! Of course, Summer and Sally would be sisters if this is ultimately written in, so that might be a fun relationship to explore if Summer returns down the road.
Whatever the case, the show’s suddenly planting seeds for a “Phyllis is Sally’s mom” bomb.
