The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Tuesday, June 22 Recap – Tara's Suspicious Family History – Summer’s Sacrifice Stuns Phyllis

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Tuesday, June 22, teases that Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) will spill her suspicious family history while Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) sacrifice stuns Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). Here’s what Y&R fans can look forward to on Tuesday’s drama-filled show.

In Summer’s suite, she’ll open the door to her concerned mother. Phyllis will admit she got Summer’s message, so she’ll want to know what’s going on. Summer will insist she may have to let Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) go so he can have the life he deserves, which will confuse Phyllis.

After Summer swears Phyllis to secrecy, she’ll bring up the job offer as the creative director of Marchetti in Italy. Phyllis will think that’s amazing and will argue that Kyle will make this work.

However, Summer won’t want to make Kyle choose between her and Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez). She’ll argue that she has to make a clean break to relieve Kyle of his burden.

Phyllis will insist that sacrifice would break both their hearts and will think it’s wrong for Summer to leave Kyle in the dark on such a huge decision. She’ll also question why Summer doesn’t just turn the job down if this is bothering her so much.

Summer will act like opportunities like this don’t come along every day, but Phyllis will counter that the love of a lifetime doesn’t either. One minute Summer is planning her wedding and now she’s contemplating giving up the relationship!

Phyllis will feel certain there’s more going on and will fish for info about what’s happening with Tara lately.

Summer will admit she’s felt the ground shake under her feet ever since Tara came to town. She’ll wonder where she really fits in Kyle’s life now that Harrison is the most important person in it.

Summer will suggest that maybe it’s fate that she got this job when she was facing so many questions, but Phyllis won’t buy that. She’ll support Summer if she wants to take the job, but she’ll urge her daughter to dig deep and find the truth in her soul.

Phyllis will warn Summer not to make a decision she’ll regret when it’s too late to change her mind.

After Summer promises she won’t, Phyllis will get ready to leave. Before she goes, Phyllis will point out that she knows Summer is holding back. Although Phyllis won’t push it right now, she’ll argue that Summer’s going to tell her the whole story eventually.

At the Abbott mansion, Tara will pump Jack for information about the custody battle he went through over Kyle all those years ago. Jack will talk about how Diane Jenkins (Maura West) was a threat and how she loved Kyle, but her first priority was always herself.

Jack will note that Diane wasn’t above using her son, so he was in a pretty ugly place with her when she died.

Tara will suggest that’s horrible and will agree with Jack about love always coming first. They’ll also discuss Kyle’s childhood love for hockey and time in boarding school.

Tara will learn about John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) being the emotional center of the family before his death. She’ll praise Jack for being an extraordinary dad and will know Kyle’s going to be the same way.

Jack will wrap up the conversation by offering a copy of Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) Abbott family history book. He’ll assure Tara that she’s part of the family now, too.

Meanwhile, Kyle will read Harrison a bedtime story and look adoringly at his son after he falls asleep.

Once Kyle joins Tara and Jack downstairs, Jack will quiz Tara about her own family. He’ll recap that he knows she’s from Virginia and has a brother she doesn’t really get along with.

Tara will note that they’re just two very different people. She’ll think it’s a shame since they’re all the family either of them has left.

Tara will talk about how both her parents passed away, but it didn’t happen until she was an adult. They had a happy home according to Tara. She’ll reveal that her father was a banker and her mother was an event planner.

Tara will insist they were very fortunate and wanted for nothing, but the discussion will be interrupted by a call from Summer.

Although Kyle was supposed to sleep over, Summer will admit she doesn’t want to be alone right now. Kyle will offer a brief explanation to Tara and Jack before he goes, but Tara will look uneasy about what Summer might spill.

Once Kyle returns to the suite, he’ll express concern about Summer. She’ll downplay it and suggest she’s been sentimental with everything that’s going on.

Summer will claim she was just missing Kyle and needed him to hold her close. Kyle will insist he’ll always be there and will add that he’s Summer’s – now and forever. That’ll leave Summer looking nervous and distraught.

At Crimson Lights, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will bump into Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and get the feeling that he can’t stand being home when there’s no one to go home to.

Adam will admit there are reminders of Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) everywhere, so he’s feeling guilty since it’s his own fault he’s alone.

Adam will just want Chelsea to get better so she can be the mother she used to be for Connor Newman (Judah Mackey).

However, Nick will point out that Chelsea’s recovery can’t be rushed. He’ll think Adam should focus on Connor instead and figure out a way to explain things to the kid so he can understand.

Nick will argue that if Adam helps Connor through this, perhaps it’ll make Adam’s own inner demons go away. Adam will eventually express gratitude for the advice as they brothers part ways on a positive note.

At Chelsea’s psychiatric facility, she’ll dream that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is there ranting about what a lousy mother she is. Adam will appear in the dream next and insist that he wants to help Chelsea come home – that he still loves her and hates to see her like this.

“Really?” Chelsea will ask before Adam pulls a gotcha. He’ll laugh about how he’s not serious at all and will wonder if Chelsea really thinks he cares about what happens to her now.

This dream version of Adam will call Chelsea pathetic, but she’ll fire back that he’s psychotic and should be locked up instead of her.

Adam will contend that Chelsea is out of her mind and exactly where she should be. When a nightmare version of Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) pops up as well, he’ll insist he’s so glad he knows the truth.

Rey will add that there’s more than one kind of prison and suggest Chelsea’s trapped in her own mind. He won’t think Chelsea will ever be free. Chelsea will wake up startled as she trembles in her bed.

At Society, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will want to treat Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) to a meal for saving his life. He’ll also think they should finish their earlier conversation since Elena was called to the hospital.

Nate will give a speech about all Elena’s wonderful qualities and how she dazzles him. He’ll think he saw Elena’s feelings for him in her eyes earlier, so she’ll confess that he’s not wrong. Elena just wasn’t sure Nate would return those feelings for her again.

However, Nate will want to let go of the past and move forward with Elena by his side. He’ll ask if Elena’s willing to take the leap with him. Soon after, Elena and Nate will kiss passionately as they undress in a suite at The Grand Phoenix.

Once they make love, Elena will send an email on her phone that turns down the Baltimore job offer. She’ll insist she has everything she needs right there in Genoa City. As other Y&R news rolls in, we’ll bring you updates.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Elena will be on cloud nine for a while, but more obstacles are about to land in her romantic path with Nate.
