The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for Friday, February 5, teases that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) are projecting some great sales numbers for Valentine’s Day. In the Jabot boardroom, Jack warns that another storm’s set to hit on February 14.
That leads to a conversation about who Jack spent the previous storm with. He surprises Kyle by admitting he was snowbound all night with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). Jack explains how it was too dangerous on the roads, especially for a “California girl.”
Kyle’s concerned about Jack becoming Sally’s champion, but Jack argues that he always looks out for the underdog. Kyle doesn’t see Sally that way, but Jack thinks it’s because Kyle doesn’t know Sally that well.
Jack notes that Sally was abandoned by her parents, but Kyle suggests that gave Sally a victim card to play. However, Jack makes it clear that he’s not that easily taken advantage of. He also wants Kyle to do him a favor and stop thinking the worst of Sally.
At Crimson Lights, Sally takes a call from Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) and isn’t happy since he betrayed her before he left town. “I called because I have something on Kyle. It’s huge,” Theo insists. “I’m listening,” Sally replies.
This is sensitive information that should be discussed in person – and Theo happens to be in Chicago to meet with some cutting-edge jewelry designers. Sally refuses to drive to Chicago, so Theo decides he’ll deliver this juicy info to her instead. Theo adds that it’s one final “screw you” to Kyle.
After Sally hangs up, Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) comes in with good news. Since Sally’s marketing pitch was so top-notch, Lauren wants to give her more responsibility. She offers Sally the position of Junior Director of Internet Marketing, so Sally’s grateful for the promotion.
This also means Lauren will need a new assistant since Sally’s going to have her hands full. Summer walks in and overhears, so she wonders what Lauren’s talking about. Sally updates Summer on her new title and points out it has nothing to do with JCV.
Summer offers fake words of congratulations and hints about some good news of her own. She gushes about everything she learned in LA and all the valuable connections she made. Summer notes that there’s another Spencer Publications meeting planned – and this time, they’re coming to her.
“The Spencers are coming to Genoa City? Even Bill?!” Lauren asks. Summer confirms it and thoroughly enjoys rubbing it in Sally’s face. Lauren tries to save Sally by acting like she probably won’t have time for the meeting, but Summer insists it’s important to make time for “old friends.”
On the patio, Gloria Fisher-Bardwell (Judith Chapman) greets Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc). They bicker as usual, but Gloria thinks they have more important things to discuss. “Why are you so opposed to me being happy and finding fulfillment?” Gloria asks.
Michael insists Lauren can hire Gloria if she wants – though he can’t imagine why she would. He calls Gloria “a magnet for trouble.” All Gloria wants to do is support Lauren and help her work flourish. Michael brings up some of Gloria’s past mistakes, but she argues she’s a different person now.
As Lauren approaches, Gloria pushes Michael to remind Lauren of her job offer. Lauren finally announces herself and insists she doesn’t recall a job offer; it was merely a discussion. Gloria counters that it was “practically” an offer and just needs to know when she starts as Lauren’s executive assistant.
At the penthouse, Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) can tell Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) is getting frustrated again. Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) pulls Sharon aside to tell her she’s being too nice. “Chelsea’s a fighter. Give her a reason to fight,” Adam contends.
Sharon knows they talked about a more confrontational approach, but she doesn’t know if Chelsea’s ready for that. Adam insists Chelsea isn’t afraid of conflict and urges Sharon to give her some. Sharon walks back over to Chelsea and gets sassy as she pushes her buttons.
Sharon argues that Chelsea’s doctors see no reason why she shouldn’t be making progress. She wonders if Chelsea is angry at the world – or maybe at Adam. Sharon keeps her attitude going and asks if she’s the problem. “You are always the problem, Sharon,” Chelsea fires back in her mind.
“I think you haaaaaate it that I’m here. In fact, you hate my guts…don’t you?” Sharon asks. Chelsea starts to blink yes, but Sharon wants to hear Chelsea say it to her face. “Say something, Chelsea!” Sharon shouts.
Chelsea wishes she could tell Sharon exactly how she feels, but she remains silent. Sharon shrugs that she’ll be back, but she notes that Chelsea can get rid of her by getting better. After Sharon steps in the hall with Adam, Chelsea imagines them kissing passionately and fights hard to move her hand.
In the hallway, Adam’s disappointed by Chelsea’s lack of progress. He knows Sharon went against her nature in there and that must’ve been hard. Sharon notes that these things take time and is willing to do anything to help Chelsea.
On Friday’s Y&R episode, Adam insists all of this is his fault – that Chelsea’s in that chair because of what he did. He explains that Chelsea fell in a stalled elevator because he’s the one who cut the power to the building. That resulted in the brain aneurysm and then Chelsea had a stroke. Sharon doesn’t think Adam should blame himself and gives him a pep talk.
Once Sharon leaves, Adam returns to Chelsea in the penthouse and wishes he knew what she was thinking. He asks if Chelsea hates him, so Chelsea wonders to herself if that’d make it easier for Adam to fall into Sharon’s arms. Chelsea considers the possibility that’s where Adam belongs and mulls over the idea of giving up.
Nevertheless, Chelsea ultimately decides she can’t give up because that’d mean losing her son. Later, Adam looks at a picture of Chelsea and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) together. He makes a phone call and mentions an idea that could be a gamechanger.
Back at Jabot, Sally thanks Jack for helping with her shipping problem the other day. If Jack hadn’t done that, it would’ve been a disaster and Sally wouldn’t have gotten the promotion.
Jack argues that he just happened to be there, but Sally thinks that’s just it – Jack is always there. Jack insists he had nothing to do with the promotion and wants to take Sally out to celebrate.
At The Grand Phoenix, Summer rants about how annoying it is that Sally’s already been promoted after “like 10 minutes” at the company. Kyle wonders why Summer cares, but Summer argues that whatever game Sally’s playing is obviously working.
Kyle suggests maybe Sally actually impressed Lauren and notes that Sally was always overqualified for the executive assistant position. He doesn’t see the need to start anything. Sally is merely buying ad space on websites, so Kyle thinks Summer should just leave her be.
Kyle points out that the leverage Summer has on Sally should keep her in line. Summer gets irritated because it seems like Kyle is back on Sally’s side. Kyle doesn’t think that’s fair and feels he’s had Summer’s back every step of the way. He just doesn’t see Sally’s promotion as a threat to Summer.
Summer argues there’s something about Sally that sets off all her alarm bells. If Summer didn’t know any better, she’d think Sally had already gotten to Kyle. However, Kyle suggests it’s Jack that Sally’s gotten to and informs Summer of the night they spent together.
Summer does her best impression of Sally and is sure her rival played that situation to the hilt. Summer feels like Sally was manipulating Jack and trying to make inroads with Kyle. Kyle maintains that there are no viable inroads when it comes to him.
At Society on Friday’s Young and the Restless episode, Sally gushes over how excited she is about her new job. After Sally decides she’s talking too much, she says there must be more to Jack than a great smile and a well-cut suit.
Jack feels they covered most of that territory the other night during the storm, but there was one question Sally wanted to ask and didn’t. It was awkward and Sally was shy, so Jack’s intrigued.
“How is it that you are single?” Sally finally asks. “Oh, that,” Jack says awkwardly. He suggests he’s had a lot of ups and downs over the years and is mellow about his current down period.
Jack contends that the love of his life could be waiting right around the corner. Sally teases that Jack shouldn’t say that too loud since he’ll have all the ladies in GC lining up! Jack thanks Sally for the compliment before she gets a text from Theo, who’s at Crimson Lights and ready to offer a Kyle shocker.
Sally lies that it’s Coco Spectra (Courtney Grosbeck) texting to say she’s proud of her. She tries to put Theo off, but he’s relentless. Once Sally makes it to the coffeehouse, she tells “bucko” that this better be good since she unceremoniously ditched Jack to be here.
Sally fills Theo in on her promotion, so he makes fun of her since it’s not that big of a step up. Theo finds out about Summer scoring leverage in LA and realizes Sally needs something huge to counteract that info.
Theo paints the picture of two players in New York. Everything was going great until Kyle took interest in a specific older married woman – a woman who was married to Ashland Locke.
Sally recognizes the name and determines it’s the ruthless mogul “Locke-ness Monster.” He has a nasty reputation, so Sally thinks Kyle must’ve had a death wish. “Or…he was really in love,” Theo hints.
Sally admits it’s something, but she isn’t sure it’s enough to throw Kyle and Summer off their game. Theo admits it happened nearly four years ago when Summer and Kyle weren’t together, so Sally wonders why Summer would care. “Why would anyone?” Sally adds.
Theo notes that Kyle covered his tracks well, so Ashland never found out. Sally realizes Ashland could go after Kyle the homewrecker if he learned what happened.
Theo has uncovered some new information to prove the affair happened. Sally assumes it’s photos or emails. “Try DNA,” Theo says. “Ashland, Jr. Actually, his name is Harrison and he’s three years old.”
At the cottage, Adam pitches the idea of bringing Connor home from boarding school. He thinks Connor might be the motivation Chelsea needs to recover. Sharon considers that it might be helpful, but she also worries about what this would do to Connor.
It could be traumatic – and it could bring back all the fears that Connor had after the hostage crisis.
There’s also a chance this could backfire and be traumatizing for Chelsea, too. Bringing Connor back to town could put Chelsea in a downward spiral. Adam admits it’s getting harder and harder to lie to Connor. Sooner or later, Adam will have to tell Connor the truth.
Adam’s worried that if Chelsea doesn’t improve soon, then she never will. Sharon insists bringing Connor home is risky, so Adam backs down on the idea. He’s grateful for Sharon’s advice and for the way she calms him down.
Adam doesn’t know what he’d do without Sharon and takes her hand in his own. Suddenly, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) appears and looks unsettled over the close moment.
Back at the penthouse, Chelsea continues to move her hand. She stops when the nurse comes in and hides her progress.
