The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers update for the week of September 20-24 teases that Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) will have a message from the beyond – and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will take the blame for Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) in a dream. Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will also face some temptation – at least in Jack’s mind.
In a standalone Y&R fantasy episode, Jack will think he hears Dina’s voice calling out to him.
As Jack struggles with guilt over his love profession to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), he’ll feel like his mom’s trying to weigh in somehow.
Once Jack falls deep asleep, he’ll have a dream where important people from his life appear to him.
When Jack sees Sally, he’ll end up taking some of the blame for their failed relationship. Sally was never going to be Phyllis, no matter how much Jack wanted her to be!
Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) will also show up in dream form and urge Jack to let go of the past. She’ll think Jack would be better off moving forward instead of trying to recapture the past with Phyllis.
As for Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) portion of the dream, he’ll lash out at Jack and accuse him of filling Phyllis’ head with doubts.
Of course, Nick’s the one doing most of the doubting in reality, but this will be Jack’s subconscious talking and helping him work through some complicated feelings.
Jack feels like he betrayed Nick with his love declaration to Phyllis, so dream Nick will indeed argue that Jack betrayed their friendship.
Afterward, Nikki will be on the verge of drinking again since Jack’s liquid courage was the love confession culprit – at least partly.
Jack may have to step up and stop dream Nikki from surrendering to temptation.
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will also appear as the dream winds down, so Jack will feel tugged in several different directions.
Once Jack wakes up and sends a text for someone to meet him, it’ll be Nick instead of Phyllis like you might expect.
Jack’s feelings for Phyllis certainly aren’t going away anytime soon, so his guilt may prompt him to fill Nick in on what happened.
Perhaps Jack will assure Nick that he’d never act on those feelings and hope they can all find a way to still be friends.
Unfortunately, this is only going to make Nick doubt his relationship even more.
We’ll see Nick and Phyllis have a difficult conversation about her connection to Jack – and Nick may call her out for not coming clean about Jack’s love profession.
Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will also find a reason to suspect Phyllis is hiding something.
If Victoria witnesses a strange interaction between Phyllis and Jack or even Phyllis and Nick, she might suspect “Phick” is on the verge of crumbling.
Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) will continue to receive threatening texts until he shows up for a meeting and hears Jesse Gaines’ (Jamison Jones) demands.
Gaines is being paid hush money since he knows Ashland’s secret, but he’ll expect a $3 million lump sum now that Ashland is supposedly going to die sooner rather than later.
Nevertheless, someone else is going to jump in this blackmail storyline and take charge, so the two most logical options are Victor and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).
One of them might score the truth from Gaines if enough money’s tossed around.
Regardless, Victor will decide to handle a situation the way he sees fit in the week ahead, so he may go over Ashland’s head to deal with Gaines.
Billy and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will also uncover important info that could pave the way for Billy’s generous proposal.
It’s easy to see the potential for Billy to use Gaines to his advantage by making him an offer.
Meanwhile, Nikki will have some solid guidance for Victoria. She might point out that it’s not a good idea to enter this union with questions and concerns.
Nikki may argue that Victoria is letting her sympathy for Ashland cloud her judgment.
Just because Victoria expects this could be a rather short marriage doesn’t mean she shouldn’t do her due diligence.
Sally’s newfound closeness to Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) will also leave both Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) wary.
This could be Sally’s ticket to pulling Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) closer like she wants.
Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will also crave a new baby to raise with Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), but that suggestion will prove problematic for many different reasons.
Victor has been worried about Mariah’s emotional instability – and she could indeed be headed for some sort of breakdown if she can’t get a firm grip on her emotions.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Mariah’s struggles will get worse before they get better, so keep watching!
