It’s another exciting night of American Idol on ABC tonight with an all-new Monday, April 18, 2022, season 5 episode 12 called “Top 14 Live Reveal” and we have your weekly American Idol recap below. On tonight’s American Idol season 5 episode 12 as per the ABC synopsis, “Following the Top 20 reveal, America’s votes will determine which 10 Idol hopefuls will continue on in their musical journey, capping off a night of unforgettable performances.

Judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie will choose the additional four singers to join the Top 14. Emmy(R) Award-winning host and producer Ryan Seacrest hosts.”

Tonight’s American Idol episode begins with Ryan Seacrest introducing the judges; Lionel Ritchie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry. Ryan has the results, there are ten seats reserved in the safe zone, another ten in the danger zone where four hopefuls will be saved by the judges.

Ryan tells Ava Maybee that she is in the top ten. Ava performs “Cuz I Love You,” by Lizzo. Christian Guardino is next, and he is also in the top ten, he can breathe easy now. Christian performs “Creep” by Radiohead.

Cameron Whicomb is next, after the nationwide vote, America has not chosen him to be in the top ten. Cameron performs, “If It Hadn’t Been For Love,” by The Steeldrivers. Katy tells him that he brought it down and it focused him, it was the best vocal he has done. Katy says “no flip,” and Cameron says no, he is growing up and wants to be there.

Allegra Miles did not make it to the top ten, so she will sing for one of the judge’s picks. Allegra performs an original song, “Tainted.” Lionel says that she wrote the song and it showed, that she had control, she did a fabulous job and he loved it.

Lady K is next center stage, she says she is excited. Last night she got a standing ovation from all the judges, and she is in the top ten. Lady K performs “Bust Your Windows,” by Jazmine Sullivan.

HunterGirl performed an original last night and she is in the top ten. HunterGirl sings “Vice,” by Miranda Lambert.

Katyrah Love did not make it to the top ten, her fate is still unknown. Katyrah performs “Through The Fire,” by Chaka Khan. Luke says this is the night where we scratch our heads, he thanks her for singing for her life. This night hurts their hearts to have to make this job, but she did a great job and looks amazing.

Cadence Baker did not make it in America’s top ten, she performs “I’m Your Baby Tonight,” by Whitney Houston. Katy tells her she sounded good and looked good, the whole package deal, she has grown so much.

Dan Marshall has a lot of friends in many places, he is in the top ten. Dan performs one of Lionel Ritchie’s songs, “Stuck On You,” So beautiful to see Lionel sing along with him. Lionel says he knocked it out of the park.

Leah Marlene says she is so overwhelmed to be there. Ryan tells her that no surprise, she is in the top ten. Leah is performing an original song, “Wisher To The Well.”

Nicolina is next and she is told by Ryan that she is in the top ten, she performs “Used To Be Mine,” by Sara Bareilles.

The judges loved Sage last night, but America didn’t put her in the top ten. Sage is singing, “Brown Eyed Lover,” by Allen Stone. Lionel says she absolutely took charge, her attitude was so positive and direct, she put her foot forward and her performance was better than last night.

Jay Copeland tore it up last night, but America did not put him in the top ten. Jay is singing, “Believer,” by Imagine Dragons. Luke says that performance is why they gave him the platinum ticket, a tremendous performance and song choice.

Noah Thompson is celebrating a birthday today, he is twenty years old. Noah is in the top ten, and he is performing “Cover Me Up,” by Jason Isbell.

Jacob Moran did not make it in the top ten, he performs for the judges vote. Jacob performs Katy Perry’s “Rise.” Katy says he is amazing and so talented, she loved the rendition and can’t wait to see him rise.

Elli Rowe did her best last night, and she is singing for her survival tonight, she did not make it in the top ten. Elli is performing, “All I Want,” by Kodaline. Lionel says she is a victim of so many talented people in her lane, it is a tough lane, but she has grown so much, that was the best performance yet.

After the nationwide vote, Emyrson Flora is in the top ten. Emyrson performs “Love In The Dark,” By Adele.

Mike Parker did not make it into the top ten, he has to sing for his life in the competition. Mike Performs, “Bed On Fire,” by Teddy Swims. Luke tells him that he is a big fan of us, great song choice, he is shocked that he is not in the top ten after last night’s performance.

One place left in the top ten, will it go to Fritz Hager or Tristen Gressett? After the nationwide vote, Fritz made it in the top ten, Tristen will have to sing for his life. Frtiz is first, he sings, “Golden,” by Harry Styles. Tristen performs “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” by Lenny Kravitz. Katy calls him a rock star no matter what happens. I just want more every time, I get scared watching you and it’s a great feeling.

That does it for the music portion of the night.

The judges have decided the four artist they are going to save, in no particular order, Allegra Miles, Jay Copeland, Mike Parker and Tristen Gressett.
