Someone targeted one of Frank’s cops. The officer was shot after he arrived at his home address. It was a miracle Lt. Ray Moretti wasn’t killed and thankfully his family wasn’t harmed. Ray took a gunshot to the shoulder. He was also unable to fire back because he locks up his piece the moment he gets home. Ray didn’t see anyone. He didn’t hear anything. His case was mystifying. Ray and his family were taken to a safe house where they had round-the-clock protection as his shooting was being investigated. Frank also personally involved himself in this case because he wanted to stay on top of any possible threat to one of his officers. And after talking to Ray himself, he came to suspect there was more to Ray’s story than the officer let on.

Frank had the best detectives working the case. He gave them a tip to look into the family and it yielded some results. Ray’s two sons weren’t entirely innocent. One son often ran with a gang and he’s been in trouble for most of his adult life. Frank suspected Ray knows who shot him. If it wasn’t the son, it was someone connected to the son. Frank continued to look into what happened as the rest of his family were handling their own drama. Danny and his partner Baez were in the studio for the taping of a television show when the star dropped down and die before it could begin. The poor woman was murdered.

The case was assigned to different detectives, but Baez wanted to investigate it because she was a huge fan of Mimi Martinez’s and she wants to get her justice. Mimi was one of the rare Latina women to reach daytime television. She was also an amazing cook and she recently took back a cheating husband who waited until she was at the top to cheat on her with a younger woman. Baez said Mimi had to be a strong person to do all of that. Baez also reminded Danny that they’ve followed his gut several times in the past. She always stood up for him when he wanted to follow his gut feeling. And so Danny agreed to work the case.

They started first by interrogating the husband. Mimi’s husband Bill did cheat on her and so they asked him about it. He said that he and Mimi had an understanding. He also added that while he wasn’t in love with Mimi, he still loved her. He said if anyone had a grudge against her that it would be her former personal assistant. The assistant got fired after trashing a hotel room on their credit card. She also landed in trouble again when she threatened to release a tell-all about her time working for the couple. It turns out the assistant had overheard Mimi trying to get a divorce, but she couldn’t because her husband would take half of their assets.

The detectives looked at the husband again. They had their eyes firmly on him when they learned that Mimi died from a nut allergy. The allergy was well known. The only thing she had in her stomach was coffee. The detectives checked that out. They learned that the stage manager got the coffee. It was the first time he had ever done that after doing a year’s worth of shows for Mimi. But the detectives had him in sight now. They had him brought in for official questioning down at the station. They soon learned he wasn’t acting alone. He was working with Bill. Bill killed his wife because he wanted to keep her mom and start over with someone new.

Danny and Baez solved their case. Erin ended up solving hers as well thanks to her nephew Jo. Jo had a casual fling with a woman named Deanna Parker and he overheard her as she was committing witness tampering. He passed on the message to Anthony. Anthony told Erin. Erin said she needed credible proof. Jo went out and found some. He also learned that his fling had gotten kidnapped by her client after she tried to recuse herself from the case and so Jo and Anthony later had to rescue her. It came out that she was a terrible defense attorney and he was a cop. Something they should have said at the beginning of their fling.

And Eddie closed her case, too. She put a serial rapist behind bars and now she gets to interview for a detective position.

But Frank later had to convince Ray to kick out his troubled son because no one was going to be safe as long as that young man stayed at the house.
