Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, April 21, reveals that Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) confessed to killing Laura Horton (Jaime Lyn Bauer) on purpose and was arrested after Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) payback. Let’s talk about how all the DOOL excitement played out.
At the police station, DA Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) grumbled about the immunity deal that had been finalized, but Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) was smug about it.
Ava thought Trask got what she wanted: a high-profile case that would create a lot of buzz.
Meanwhile, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) joined Gabi Hernandez DiMera (Camila Banus) at the bistro, where Gabi was eager to celebrate Ava going away for a very long time.
“Or not,” Ava piped up as she arrived. Although Gabi was convinced Ava escaped, Rafe figured maybe Ava got out on bail.
Ava informed the Hernandez siblings that it was neither and produced the paperwork that declared her free as a bird.
It left Gabi fuming, so she confronted Trask and vowed to make some waves with Mayor Abe Carver (James Reynolds) over this.
Rafe wasn’t happy either, but Trask wanted him to take the lead on the high-profile arrest.
Trask instructed Rafe to use handcuffs and the front entrance – that way the press could get a good shot.
In the town square on Thursday’s Days episode, Gwen urged Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) not to believe a word Abigail was saying.
Gwen tried to convince Xander to leave, but Abigail insisted on spilling all Gwen’s secrets first.
Abigail revealed that Ava was willing to testify against Gwen – though she clarified that Ava confirmed Gwen as her kidnapping accomplice before the deal was actually made.
Gwen acted like Ava was just trying to save herself, so Xander backed her up.
Nevertheless, Abigail stood her ground about Gwen being the one who attacked her and helped ship her off.
Abigail also explained how Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) was the missing piece Xander needed.
Abigail pointed out that Kristen blackmailed Gwen into helping her escape.
Abigail told Xander about Gwen hiding Sarah Horton’s (Linsey Godfrey) island whereabouts for four months and then posing as Sarah in that mask.
Gwen tearfully admitted she was so afraid of losing Xander. She thought she would make it better for Sarah somehow, but Xander became incensed.
“Better?!” Xander shouted menacingly.
Xander was even more furious when Abigail revealed that Gwen switched the antidote for what was essentially another dose of poison.
Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) realized every bit of this was true, but Gwen wanted a chance to explain herself to “Dad.”
After Jack warned Gwen never to call him that again, he declared that he was done with her.
Xander raged over Gwen knowing how much he loved Sarah and added how close they were to Sarah being Sarah again.
Xander thought Gwen might as well have just put a bullet through Sarah’s brain and said Gwen was the worst person he’d ever known.
After Xander stormed off, Abigail pushed Gwen to let him go.
Abigail insisted Gwen had done more than enough, but Gwen launched a tirade about “Horton morality” and didn’t think they were any better than her.
Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) defended Abigail for having a backbone – unlike Gwen the coward.
Jack was clearly struggling over what had gone down, but he knew Abigail did what she had to do.
After Rafe showed up, he read Gwen her rights and slapped the cuffs on her. Gwen moved close to Abigail’s ear and whispered a secret about her “precious grandmother,” Laura.
Abigail was taken aback as Gwen hissed that she killed that “old bitch” on purpose.
Once Rafe dragged Gwen away, Abigail faced questions from her loved ones about what Gwen had said to her.
At Jake DiMera’s (Brandon Barash) apartment, he welcomed Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) for a visit and offered some food Ava had made.
Between the cooking and Ava’s massages, Ben thought she sounded like the dream roommate.
Ben was curious about the bed situation and wondered if Jake was interested in Ava.
Jake suggested that even if he were, Ava was arrested and could be looking at major jail time.
However, Ava surprised Jake by coming home moments later. She quipped that the reports of her incarceration were greatly exaggerated.
After Ben left on Thursday’s Days episode, Jake and Ava wound up deciding to share the bed.
Neither of them had slept platonically with someone before, but Ava and Jake agreed there was a first time for everything.
Days of Our Lives spoilers say Jake could battle a torn heart soon since he’s clearly not over Gabi, but Ava is awfully tempting!
