General Hospital (GH) spoilers and rumors tease that Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) will be furious when he finally gets an in-utero paternity test done on Esmé Prince’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) baby. It might turn out that it’s not only not his, but not even Cassadine blood at all!
General Hospital Spoilers: Esmé Prince Was Missing A While
Esmé was missing for a few months after she took that tumble off the parapet in a struggle with Ava Cassadine (Maura West).
When she returned, visiting her birth father Ryan Chamberlain (Jon Lindstrom) first, she explained what happened and that a fishing boat had rescued her.
She had stayed with the fishermen for several months while healing from the bruises and exposure in the cold water.
Esme was well taken care of and fed, and when she was ready she returned to Port Charles.
But what she didn’t tell her father was that he was going to be a grandpa and she was going to have a baby –possibly because it wasn’t Nikolas’.
GH Spoilers: Prime Directive
Esmé’s prime directive from Ryan had been to seduce Nikolas so Ava would divorce him and in his twisted mind, come running back to him.
If Esmé had told Ryan she was pregnant he would have immediately demanded proof, not only in a pregnancy test but probably a paternity test.
Ryan wouldn’t leave loose ends with something like that and would assume Nikolas wouldn’t either, but he underestimated Nikolas’ stupidity in not getting that paternity test right away.
Any plan to force Nikolas to be responsible for the child and Esmé, the mother, would fall apart if the baby wasn’t his, yet, he believed Esmé without proof several months.
And it would have been such a simple test – a noninvasive prenatal paternity (NIPP) test involving taking a blood sample from each to conduct a fetal cell analysis.
General Hospital Spoilers: Elizabeth Baldwin Convinces Nik
Elizabeth Baldwin, (Rebecca Herbst) is providing maternity care for Esmé, and convinces Nikolas to get a NIPP test.
She explains a genetic profile compares the fetal cells present in the mother’s bloodstream to the alleged father’s, the result is more than 99 percent accurate.
Liz will take the blood samples and have them tested at GH, but oddly, Esmé is hesitant-she convinces her it’s to screen for birth defects.
Elizabeth has interesting news for Nikolas-the NIPP test shows no Cassadine relation, and he knows he’s been had.
Nikolas is livid when he finds out Esmé lied, and he will demand answers and make other arrangements-with Pentonville-but first, he has to figure out how not to be arrested himself!
