General Hospital Spoilers: Friday, January 7 Recap – Esme’s Strong Prescription Meds – Carly Grills Sonny About Kissing Nina

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, January 7, reveals that Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) picked up some strong-dosage prescription meds while Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) grilled Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) about kissing Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and everything else their secret romance entailed. Here’s how it all played out on Friday’s shocking GH episode.

At the Metro Court, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) met with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) about his new gallery job since he would have to pay restitution after his Spring Ridge stint.

Spencer thought it was more like indentured servitude, but Ava insisted it was court mandated and revealed that he’d actually be working for Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla).

Trina also received this news and didn’t react well to it. After Trina stepped away to call Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Ava convinced Spencer that making Trina’s job easier at the gallery could go a long way toward making things right with her.

At Kelly’s, Josslyn vented to Cameron Webber (William Lipton) about Carly and Sonny’s marriage problems.

Joss wasn’t sure they could fix it this time, but Cameron had high hopes.

When Esme came in, she got upset over the possibility that Sonny wouldn’t let them use the cabin now.

Esme insisted Spencer was looking forward to this trip, so she didn’t want to take it away from.

Joss eventually decided she could still ask Sonny since he owed his family after what happened with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Since Spencer was promised fun at the cabin, Josslyn vowed to make it happen.

That pleased Esme, who spoke to Cameron alone while Joss took Trina’s call outside.

Esme reflected on how before her adoptive parents died, they were in the process of splitting up.

Esme talked about how they blamed each other for their betrayals and felt there was a special circle of hell reserved for people who tear families apart.

Cameron thought it was important not to let anger take over, but Esme thought anger could be fuel sometimes.

After Cameron reflected on how he became reckless and impulsive after Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) died, Esme wanted to hear more about that.

However, Cameron hoped Esme would never meet that side of him and reiterated how you couldn’t let anger overrun you.

After Josslyn got updates on Trina’s work drama, she rejoined Esme and Cameron inside. Esme thanked Cam for the caffeine and Joss for the cabin before she headed out.

Josslyn actually thought that seemed genuine – at least for Esme. Joss opened her mind to the possibility that there was more to Esme than she thought, but she wasn’t ready to give her a passing grade yet.

At GH, Esme picked up a prescription and confirmed it was a new one.

Esme was told she’d need special instructions since it was such a strong dosage of meds, but Esme smiled as she insisted she knew exactly how to use them.

Back at the Metro Court, Ava told Trina she was sorry for springing this Spencer thing on her.

Even so, Ava thought it’d be a great experience for when Trina ran a gallery of her own one day.

Spencer also let Trina know he was fine with working for her if she’d have him, so they reached an agreement.

After Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) left Sonny and Nina to talk in their kitchen, Sonny pointed out that he’d already spent nine months away from his wife. He didn’t want to spend another minute without Carly now.

Carly demanded to know if Sonny had feelings for Nina and repeated her question more forcefully when Sonny stayed silent.

Sonny finally admitted that he indeed had feelings, but he was trying to get over them.

After Sonny pointed out that Carly didn’t tell him about her feelings for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) right away, she fired back about how that was for days, not months.

Carly ranted about how Sonny owed her the truth and referred to Sonny as Nina’s accomplice.

Sonny tried to act like that was “Mike” and not the real him. He wanted to forget Nixon Falls, but Carly wanted to know the details – like if Sonny kissed or touched Nina.

Sonny remained reluctant to open up, so Carly ultimately stormed out.

Once Sonny was alone, he thought back to Nina telling him she honestly loved him in the initial aftermath of his returned memories. Sonny then threw his glass against the wall in frustration.

At Crimson, Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) visited Nina and talked about hearing the court details on the news. P

hyllis also heard about Nina taking Sonny to his penthouse on New Year’s Eve and thought even being with Sonny casually was inappropriate.

Nina considered the possibility that maybe Sonny’s happiness was with her. She wondered if Phyllis thought they could be together if Sonny separated from Carly.

Phyllis acknowledged that it was possible, but she also gave Nina a “hell no” on whether she should act on her feelings.

Phyllis thought the only way for Nina to make this right was to leave Sonny alone.

When Nina asked what if Sonny didn’t want to be left alone, Phyllis once again pushed her to let Sonny and Carly figure this out. She felt whatever the next step was shouldn’t be Nina’s to take.

After Phyllis left, Nina prepared for her upcoming meeting. She was about to head out the door when a furious Carly appeared looking ready to rumble!

At Deception, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) arrived to pick up Bailey Quartermaine” aka Louise August (London and Jett Prinzo-Berendt) and take her to meet Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton).

Chase got a heads-up about avoiding Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) before he gave Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) her favorite sandwich in a brown bag.

Chase even threw in a banana since Brook Lynn always seems to steal his. Brook Lynn joked that her banana-stealing days weren’t over, so Chase suggested he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Olivia wound up witnessing this flirty exchange and could tell something romantic seemed to be going on. She later hinted to Brook Lynn about what we need being right in front of us sometimes.

At the hospital, Elizabeth “Liz” Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) confirmed to Finn that they were on for their first official date.

They shared a kiss in the locker room and seemed to be moving right along in their romance.

Later, Liz gushed over “Bailey,” who was strapped to Chase and looking adorably alert.

After Liz walked away, Finn held “Bailey’s” tiny hand as he acknowledged that things were going well in his budding relationship.

Talk turned to Brook Lynn, so Chase felt like things had changed with her lately.

Something was different between them, so Finn chuckled as suggested his brother was wearing the source of that change – meaning “Bailey.”

Finn thought it was only natural for co-parenting to shift the dynamic and thought it’d all work out. Chase thought Finn seemed to know what he was doing when it came to Liz, too.

When Liz went to get her date dress out of her locker, she heard a clink and bent down to pick up what fell.

Liz was stunned as she discovered her wedding ring – the one she previously stashed in the kitchen drawer at home.

General Hospital spoilers say Liz will have a mystery to ponder soon enough, so keep watching!
