General Hospital Spoilers: Friday, July 22 Recap – Curtis Traps Esme in Oz’s Hideout – Austin Ordered To Return Home

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Friday, July 22, reveals that Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) found Oz Haggerty (Max Faugno) the bartender’s hideout with Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) inside. Austin Gatlin-Holt’s (Roger Howarth) boss also had homecoming orders for him, so here’s how all the GH action went down.

At the stables, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) called “time of death” on her date with Cody Bell (Josh Kelly), who called her a nag and paid the price when she dumped a drink over his head.

After a chat with Comet the horse, Cody left Britt an apologetic voicemail and hoped she’d give him the opportunity to make things up to her.

On The Haunted Star, Linc Brown (Dan Buran) tried to convince Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) to let him be his manager, but Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) pointed out she already had a verbal agreement with Chase.

Besides, Chase refused to sign with someone like Linc and called him a parasite.

Linc still felt he could make Chase a star and wanted to be considered as a management option along with Brook Lynn.

After Linc suggested giving them both 30 days to prove themselves, Chase agreed. In the aftermath, Brook Lynn and Chase were thrilled over their plan working.

Nearby, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) didn’t understand why Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) was so adamant that she wasn’t a good match for Austin.

Maxie was also concerned over how squirrely Spinelli had been acting, so she pumped him for info until he came clean.

Spinelli admitted he was behind Society Setups and explained how his algorithm didn’t predict a future for Maxie and Austin.

Maxie obviously still had faith in her relationship, but she also seemed concerned over Spinelli hiding his venture and thinking people wouldn’t use it if they knew the truth.

After Maxie offered a pep talk, she assured Spinelli that she’d trust him with her heart if she were single.

On the deck, Austin argued with a mystery man, who warned that Austin needed to return to Pautuck.

After Austin pointed out he didn’t answer to him, the mystery guy fired back that Austin answered to the boss and showed him a text from her.

That text said Austin’s gambit in Port Charles failed, so it was time to return to the fold.

The mystery man hinted about consequences for Maxie right as Britt appeared and watched the tense interaction.

Austin covered after the guy left and got updates on Britt’s latest dating disaster.

Once Austin rattled off a bunch of compliments, he acted like some guys were intimidated by a woman like Britt.

However, Austin also argued that Britt shouldn’t date if she didn’t want to.

Britt complained about Liesl Obrecht’s (Kathleen Gati) pressure, but Austin highlighted the importance of running your own life.

Next, Britt ranted to Maxie and Spinelli about her experience with Society Setups.

Spinelli kept trying to defend the matchmaking app, which confused Britt and left her undeterred from trying to sue them out of business.

Maxie thought maybe it’d be better for Britt to just take a break from dating.

At home, Curtis assured Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) that he’d always look out for Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) like his own daughter.

Curtis had a plan since he paid off the night clerk at the motel Oz Haggerty (Max Faugno) the bartender last stayed in.

Since Oz left a ton of stuff behind, Curtis wanted to dig through and try to find clues.

The night clerk was going to leave the door unlocked for Curtis, but he urged Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) to stay behind and keep Portia company.

That gave Portia a chance to ask questions related to Marshall’s schizophrenia and get some comfort over Trina’s trial.

On Curtis’ way out, he seemed annoyed by a text and hopped in the back of Selina Wu’s (Lydia Look) car soon after.

Selina revealed her respect for family and wanted to help Trina since she owned the bar where Oz worked.

Curtis wondered what was in it for Selina, but she pointed out that he didn’t have time to chase leads and hunt Oz down.

Selina could offer the bartender’s current location now, so Curtis took her up on that offer.

As for Esme, she found Oz’s hideout and pointed out she no longer had a wealthy boyfriend – nor could she access her trust fund.

Oz was irritated since Esme couldn’t buy his silence and hinted he might cut a deal to sell her out.

Esme changed tactics by flattering Oz with details she’d looked up online.

After suggesting they share a drink, Esme had tequila with the bartender and acted like she was done with weak boys like Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez).

Esme planted a kiss on Oz, who hinted about taking this to the bedroom.

Once Esme asked Oz to top her off first, he went to get more booze. Esme wiped her mouth in disgust, but she grinned in satisfaction moments later.

Oz returned and downed more tequila, but it became obvious he’d been drugged and wasn’t feeling so great.

Esme hinted about how frustrating it was when people underestimated her and seemed pleased when Oz passed out.

When Curtis started knocking on the door, it left Esme alarmed over her tight spot.

General Hospital spoilers say Esme will fight to keep herself out of trouble, but that’ll get tougher and tougher as this storyline moves along.
