General Hospital Spoilers: Monday, January 31 Recap – Willow’s Missing Birth Certificate – Liz Trapped by Mysterious Door Slam

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Monday, January 31, reveals that Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) was puzzled over her missing birth certificate – and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) was trapped briefly after a mysterious door slam. Here’s how things went down on Monday’s GH episode.

At the Quartermaine gatehouse, Willow was thrilled when Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) surprised her with a trip to Paris.

Willow needed her birth certificate for her passport and recalled using it back when she married Michael.

Once Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) arrived, she got updates on the trip and was happy for the two of them.

While Willow was upstairs, Carly ranted to Michael about Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and how happiness with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) seemed further and further away.

Willow eventually came back down after being unable to find her birth certificate.

Michael thought it might be in the attic, so he left the room while Willow apologized to Carly again for keeping secrets.

Carly assured Willow that it wasn’t her place to spill and made it clear that what happened was on Sonny.

When Michael still couldn’t find the birth certificate, Willow tried to get a copy of it online and was stunned to learn no record of it existed.

At the hospital, Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) cautioned Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) about trying to get Carly back through a grand gesture.

Sonny insisted Carly liked decisive actions and bold moves, so Ned hoped that Sonny was right.

Next, Sonny called Carly and pushed for one hour of her time on Friday. He was pleased when Carly agreed she could give Sonny that.

As for Liz, Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) caught up with her in Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) old art therapy room.

Finn could tell Liz looked tired, so she confessed to having trouble sleeping.

Liz felt bad about all the reminders of Franco, but she didn’t want her past to mess up her future with Finn.

After Finn reassured Liz and made plans for another date with her, he took off.

Liz stood there looking emotional until the door suddenly slammed and jammed. She struggled to get it open before it finally released. Liz blamed it on a draft, but she looked rather unnerved

At the cabin, Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) couldn’t remember much once she woke up. She was eager to find out what exactly happened.

In a moment alone with Trina, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) explained why Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) left with Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) – including the part about Trina admitting she missed how things were before Joss and Cameron Webber (William Lipton) got together.

Trina insisted she thought of Cam more like a brother and that she just had to get used to being the odd woman out.

Cameron ultimately joined Trina and Josslyn as they ranted about Esme.

When Trina wondered if Esme was just a mean girl or if something more was going on, Joss thought it was definitely something more.

In the car, Esme cried about Spencer’s treatment of her and pointed out she’d be all alone once his prison sentence began.

Spencer eventually asked for Esme’s forgiveness and said he wasn’t above begging.

Esme calmed down and talked about how his friends didn’t understand their relationship.

Esme scooted over next to Spencer in the backseat and fell asleep on his shoulder – giving Spencer the chance to secretly text Trina. When Trina saw the text, she opted to ignore it.

At Charlie’s Pub, Marshall Ashford (Robert Gossett) talked to Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) about how he wasn’t against Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) specifically.

Marshall’s complaints had been about people in Sonny’s line of work.

Curtis warned Marshall that if they were going to have a relationship, he couldn’t threaten to disappear again.

Marshall made it clear that he wasn’t going anywhere while Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) talked to Phyllis Caulfield (Joyce Guy) at the bar.

Phyllis wondered if they knew each other, but Stella guessed she just had one of those faces.

They officially met before Stella shared her own private moment with Marshall.

Stella objected to Marshall leading Curtis to believe he was in witness protection.

Stella warned about the risks of not telling the whole story, but Marshall urged Stella to just let him have this chance with his son.

General Hospital spoilers say Marshall’s secrets will come back to haunt him eventually, so stay tuned.
