General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will want Dex Heller (Evan Hofer) to be the new Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), but a suspicious Brick (Stephen A. Smith) will pump the brakes. Let’s talk about Sonny’s difficult situation and how Dex might take advantage of it.
GH fans know Sonny had a close bond with Jason, who can never truly be replaced in his eyes.
Nevertheless, Sonny could really use a new right-hand man who isn’t afraid to walk into danger for him.
Brick has stepped up somewhat since Jason’s death, but he’s just not the hero type that Sonny needs.
Now that Dex is learning the ropes within the mob organization and starting to show he’s got what it takes, Sonny will consider letting him take on a bigger role.
When Sonny pitches Dex as a possible Jason replacement, that’ll leave Brick concerned.
Brick just won’t think they know enough about Dex to warrant that level of trust.
That’s why Brick will want to do a deep dive into Dex’s past and make sure there are no red flags before they proceed.
It’s definitely better to be safe than sorry, so Brick will convince Sonny to let him investigate.
As for Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell), he’ll be pleased over the progress Dex is making.
Since Michael is using Dex as part of his plan to take down Sonny, he needs Dex to be in the inner circle.
Michael will believe Dex is well on his way, but he’ll offer some tips and tricks to speed things along.
Dex thinks he needs to take the initiative all the time, but Michael will argue that Sonny likes to feel needed.
Sonny would be far more impressed with Dex if he turned to him as a mentor rather than acting like a know-it-all.
Dex will take that advice to heart and indeed start relying on Sonny in that way, but it’ll leave him torn as he starts getting to know Sonny a bit better!
