General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap review for the week of December 19-23 reveals that the holidays were upon Port Charles, so that brought a chance for some heartwarming moments and big surprises. GH delivered some excellent Christmas episodes that set up new storylines in some cases.
For starters, the show did the right thing by finally having Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Austin Gatlin Holt (Roger Howarth) call it quits.
Many fans have been rooting for Austin and Maxie to break up due to lack of chemistry and an overall boring story.
Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) has been pining for Maxie, but now it’s his time to shine.
It was nice to see Ellie Trout (Emily Wilson) again and then have Spinelli find Maxie for an airport Christmas celebration with Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher).
Now that Maxie’s starting to see Spinelli in a new light, their reunion is already in progress.
Maxie arguably has nice chemistry with Spinelli, so it makes sense to give her a romance that isn’t shady and that she doesn’t have to question.
Spinelli is the perfect man for Maxie right now since she dealt with so much deception with Peter August (Wes Ramsey) and Austin.
It’s great news for Georgie too since she’ll love having her mom and dad back together.
It was also nice to see Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) share a moment of peace.
Carly invited Ava in for hot cocoa and actually showed some sympathy for her over Nikolas Cassadine’s (Marcus Coloma) cheating, so we’d call that a holiday miracle!
As for Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), it was fun to watch her ride to the rescue at the Quartermaine mansion.
Britt and Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) raced over on Brando Corbin’s (Johnny Wactor) motorcycle so that Britt could help deliver a baby.
Since the new mom named her daughter Britta Noel, it was certainly a special gift.
Britt’s thoughts have been consumed by her grim fate lately, so it was lovely for her to know she brought new life into the world and that her memory would live on.
