In tonight’s NCIS Director Vance received a rare call from his bosses. It was about a distress call received from a civilian vessel and that was carrying environmental research scientists. The vessel was boarded by a black ops team that asked them to contact the Navy. The Navy needed to be contacted because a member of this team was killed and the death needed to be investigated. However, NCIS wasn’t told what the operation entailed. They didn’t even know why the black ops team was in that area and Vance suspected that his immediate boss wasn’t even in the loop. He would have liked more information but he was willing to work with what he got and he still gave it to Parker’s team to investigate.

Parker does amazing work with his team. He wasn’t quite ready to call them his team because he still thought of them as Gibbs’s team and so he was working on that while he works on this case. McGee stayed back to discuss the case with their tech department. The techies were called Tech Trolls by everyone. They were brilliant. They just also happened to be very smug and dismissive and no one really likes them. No one other than McGee. McGee used to get along great with these guys and so he was surprised when they treated him like crap when he went go talk to him. He didn’t know what he did wrong.

McGee was still figuring this out as the rest of his team went to the ship. They went to the ship looking to investigate the dead body and instead they walked into an ambush. The black ops team had taken everyone onboard hostage. They also wanted to do the same to NCIS as well and the team didn’t know why. None of them knew why. They didn’t have grievances with the men shooting at them and their means of an escape went up in smoke when their helicopter pilots were shot. One pilot survived. The other did not. They also ran out of bullets pretty quickly. The agents ran off with their injured pilot and they tried to formulate a plan.

Back at headquarters, McGee was with Vance when they again got a call from the bosses. The woman in charge said that there wasn’t a secret mission in the area and that the person who called it in didn’t exist. It was a false flag operation. There were people pretending to be Navy. McGee and Vance’s concern was naturally for the team and Palmer. They wanted them rescued. The team meanwhile was doing the best they could and they came across members of the crew. Some of the crew that survived the taking of the ship had called them terrorists. They overheard them saying how they wanted a high value target on the ship.

It also became clear after the terrorist managed to grab Torres and Knight that they wanted off the ship. They got whatever they came for and they needed the keys to the helicopter to get off the ship. Torres and Knight were tortured. They couldn’t get any other information and so Parker saw them like that. He was using the air vents to get around. He was able to talk to his agents. He found out what the terrorists wanted and put a plan in action. He let them find the keys to the helicopter. He then waited until they while they gathered people and he hid in the helicopter. When that helicopter took off with the terrorists, Parker had been with them.

The terrorists took the cell phone jammer with them. The rest of the team was able to call for help and they freed the remaining members of the ship’s crew. Once the two sides were talking to each other with both headquarters and the ship now free to discuss the terrorists – they were able to identify the three terrorists that tried to kill everyone. They were former members of a private military contractor. They were fired after being caught stealing. They now steal for profit and it seems they were always after the helicopter. Not anything onboard. The military grade helicopter was expensive. And anyone could be in the market for it.

Parker helped them find the terrorists by playing the theme song to the original Stark Trek on the International distress line. His team eventually figured out it was him because they knew he was a huge fan of the original series and they tracked where the signal was coming from to arrest all of the terrorists. But Vance told Parker he shouldn’t be taking such risks and Parker’s response was that he would have done anything to get his team off that ship. And while it may have taken a while, Parker was finally thinking of them as his team.

THE END!
