The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) may blame Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) for his fake cancer scam. Will Victor realize his heart attack power play has come back to haunt?
When Y&R fans were first introduced to the “Locke-ness Monster,” we were warned about how ruthless he was.
The show made it clear that Ashland was a force to be reckoned with, but they didn’t do a great job of proving it.
Of course, part of the problem was Ashland had a sudden heart attack that seemingly changed his outlook on life.
Not too long after, Ashland grew closer to Victoria Newman-Locke (Amelia Heinle) and revealed he had six months left to live due to small-cell lung carcinoma.
However, it looks like Ashland has been running a long con. Maybe Ashland held a grudge over how Victor behaved during Ashland’s heart attack crisis.
Y&R viewers will recall how Victor refused to call for paramedics until Ashland signed the deal for Cyaxares.
Cyaxares later became Newman Media, which now falls under the Newman-Locke umbrella due to the recent acquisition.
In other words, Ashland got that company back and created the mega conglomerate of Newman-Locke to boot. Sounds like pretty good revenge if you ask us!
Ashland made Victoria his wife as part of that plan, so his deception truly ran deep.
Did this all start with Victor’s cruel decision to let Ashland suffer during that heart attack – when he held the Cyaxares contract over him as leverage?
Perhaps Ashland felt he was perfectly justified in plotting against Victor after that, though we’d have to imagine he feels a bit guilty about Victoria now.
Despite the fact that their marriage was included in Ashland’s scheme, he does seem to love Victoria in his own way.
We won’t be surprised if Ashland fights desperately to hold onto that love despite the imminent news of his betrayal.
Nevertheless, Victoria will be furious when she learns Ashland has been keeping even more secrets – especially ones as huge as faking lung cancer, playing on her sympathies to make this merger happen and getting better through pretend treatment.
Victoria will feel like her whole marriage is a lie, so her world’s going to come crumbling down.
Ashland may insist Victor is responsible for driving him down this vengeful path, so we’ll pass along updates as other details emerge.
