The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) is just jealous of Daddy Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd). There’s no real danger to Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware), so it’s wrong for Devon to fake concern for the baby’s well-being.
It’s true that Devon caught Chance on a rough night almost immediately after he returned from Spain.
Chance trusted Devon enough to open up about his fears that he couldn’t live up to the promises he made to his family. However, things have changed since then.
Chance went through a horrible ordeal and just needed a little time to settle back into civilian life.
It was completely normal for Chance to battle some insecurities and be off his game. Unfortunately, Devon is trying to use that trauma against Chance when there’s no reason to.
Dominic is the richest baby in town with a top-notch nanny and a flood of family members who are looking out for him.
Even beyond Chance and Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway), this baby is completely loved and cared for.
Devon acts like the kid’s been tossed out on the street or something! Dominic is doing just fine, and as of the January 6 episode, he’s making great strides in bonding with Chance.
In that episode, Devon rants to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) about Chance’s trauma affecting his ability to be a good father – only to witness Chance looking like an excellent dad to happy Dominic at Society.
Soon after, Devon makes the bold declaration to Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) that he wants to pursue legal rights and even refers to Dominic as “MY son.”
So now the truth comes out! All that phony-baloney concern about the emotional turmoil at the Chancellor mansion and how it might affect Dominic is just an excuse.
Devon at least needs to be honest about the fact that he’s simply obsessed with the baby and wants him now.
It’s not fair to act like Chance is some sort of harmful influence, especially after witnessing a perfect example of Chance connecting with Dominic.
Of course, that’s the real problem. Devon apparently wants to be the only one who has a special Dom connection and is ignoring the agreement he made to help Abby start a family with Chance.
To make matters worse, so many otherwise rational characters are inexplicably fueling Devon to go down this shared custody path. It makes no sense and is sloppy, skewed writing.
Let’s just hope Chance and Abby win any court battle that might be looming since Devon truly isn’t entitled to play any sort of fatherly role.
If we’re supposed to have sympathy for Devon, Y&R’s doing a terrible job of making us have any.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Devon needs a reality check about what being a sperm donor means, so maybe someone will have the guts to talk some sense into him eventually.
