The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Friday, August 19 Recap – Chance Lies to Save Newmans – Chelsea Knows Billy’s Secret

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, August 19, teases that Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will decide to lie to save the Newmans while Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) reveals that she knows Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) secret.

At the Abbott house, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will get Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) to join him for a nightcap.

After Jack asks what Diane really wants, she’ll rattle off the typical things like health and happiness.

Jack will push Diane to go deeper, so she’ll question what he means.

Once Jack takes Diane’s hand, he’ll ask where she thinks this is going – and he’ll clarify that he means their tenuous relationship.

Diane will acknowledge that her feelings for Jack go beyond friendship, but she’ll downplay the idea that he’d ever reciprocate.

After Diane says she didn’t want the daydream to end, Jack will reply that maybe it doesn’t have to.

Jack will confess he’s got some feelings as well and will share a kiss with Diane.

Suddenly, Diane will snap out of her actual daydream due to Jack calling her name. Although Jack will wonder if Diane is OK, she’ll act like she just got a little lightheaded due to her drink.

Jack will revisit the question of where this is going, but he’ll just mean overall goals and Diane’s living arrangements.

Diane will suggest that if you don’t plan much, then you don’t have a chance to dream.

Once Diane decides to head out, Jack will offer to give her a ride home or call her a car. Diane will decline, but she’ll be glad to know Jack cares.

On the GCAC rooftop, Chelsea will wonder what really went wrong between Billy and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).

Billy will take all the blame and insist it was never Victoria’s fault when he was at his worst.

After Chelsea argues that Billy has tamed his wild side, he’ll think she has a talent for finding new ways to call him boring.

Chelsea will ask if that’s how Billy sees himself and will wonder if part of him misses the Billy he used to be.

Billy will act like everyone gets a little nostalgic for their youth – and he’ll feel like his family still sees him as a troublemaker anyway.

Talk will eventually turn to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and how it sounds like she wants Billy to quit the podcast.

Chelsea will insist “Podcast Billy” is the real Billy and will add that The Grinning Soul is the real Billy as well.

Billy will try to deny his alternate persona, but Chelsea will insist she figured it out a long time ago.

Chelsea will also think maybe Billy wants an ultimatum between being an executive and a podcaster.

Billy won’t know about that, but he’ll hope that he can make a decision without Lily forcing his hand.

Before Chelsea leaves, she’ll bring up telling Johnny Abbott (last played by Ryan and Holden Hare) the bio mom truth.

Chelsea will want Billy to convince Victoria it’s the right call, but he won’t be able to make any guarantees. Billy will think time and space are probably what Victoria needs.

At the ranch, Victoria will give Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) updates on her chat with Chance.

Victor and Nikki will also learn about Chelsea’s desire to tell Johnny that she’s his biological mother.

Nikki will acknowledge that keeping the secret could cause problems later on, but Victor will advise against confusing Johnny.

Regardless, Victoria won’t think the time is right since Johnny is still dealing with Ashland Locke’s (Robert Newman) death.

After Chance has some flashbacks of all the Newman pressure, he’ll call Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) and reveal that he’s made up his mind.

As Nick enters the coffeehouse, Chance will look over at him and declare that he finally knows what he has to do.

Once Chance hangs up, he’ll talk to Nick about some new developments in the case.

Since Chance will want to have a meeting about how to move forward, Nick will suggest doing it at the ranch now.

Soon after, Chance will meet with Nick, Victoria, Nikki and Victor.

There’ll be a moment where Nick blurts out that they can’t go on like this, but Chance will push him to clam up without a lawyer.

After going over all the evidence, Chance will suggest there are two scenarios: one where Ashland got up and walked out on his own and one where his body was moved.

Chance will fully believe Nick never intended to kill Ashland – and he’ll think the context of everything Ashland did to the family is also important.

Since Chance won’t want anyone to stand trial when there wasn’t a murder, he’ll vow to go with scenario one in his official version – the one where Ashland was still alive when he made it to his car.

Victor will be pleased over Chance doing the right thing and will think Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) will be proud.

After Victoria thanks Chance for protecting the family, she’ll offer help if there’s ever anything they can do for him.

Chance will shut down that offer and will seem tense as he leaves.

Nick will remain upset in the aftermath and will eventually exit, too.

Nikki will know Nick is still going to punish himself for Ashland’s fate, so Victor will insist he’s going to need all their support.

At Society, Chance will look deep in thought as he sits at the bar with a drink.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Chance could rethink his decision soon, so stay tuned!
