There’s been a lot of talk about what a strong couple Kyle and Summer have become.
It’s like Y&R has made Summer and Kyle some bright beacon of love – the perfect shining example of a happy young marriage.
Even when issues pop up, Kyle and Summer have healthy debates instead of nasty arguments.
Summer and Kyle always listen to each other’s side before finding a solution they can agree on as a team.
Of course, we have to wonder how long this ideal “Skyle” marriage can last under the circumstances.
For starters, it’s a soap – and that means drama is always coming eventually.
Summer and Kyle have had a good run of being a solid couple, so it’s probably about time for Y&R to bring some conflict.
It’s almost surprising it hasn’t happened already considering this whole situation with their feuding mothers.
Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) were given their jobs back at Marchetti, but they’ll have to behave this time around.
Although Kyle and Summer are hoping for the best, they should really be preparing for the worst!
Diane’s partnership with Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) is on the verge of exposure – and the timing lines up for it to happen right around the time of Summer and Kyle’s celebration.
Kyle and Summer will hopefully make it through the vow renewal portion of their gathering, but their hometown wedding reception could be ruined.
Since Kyle has come to care about Diane so much and has seen the positive changes in her, he may excuse her secret Tucker connection.
Perhaps Kyle will be willing to overlook Diane’s LA ties and any schemes that are just now coming to light.
What matters is the new Diane that Kyle believes he knows and loves.
Summer, on the other hand, may think this proves Diane is dishonest and up to no good.
Diane’s penchant for secret-keeping could be an issue and lead to friction over whether she should be in Harrison Abbott’s (Kellen Enriquez) life.
In other words, the second honeymoon may be over almost immediately after the wedding reception falls apart.
All this talk about Summer and Kyle being on solid ground may be a setup for them to crash and burn as a couple – at least for a while.
