The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Monday, January 17 Recap – Ashland’s Recovery Troubles Victor - Amanda To Put Chance On Trial

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Monday, January 17, reveals that Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) father mentality will upset Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) while Ashland Locke’s (Richard Burgi) recovery troubles Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

At the Chancellor mansion on Monday’s Y&R episode, Abby will wonder how Devon could do something so hurtful. She’ll argue that she thought Devon was her friend, but he’ll counter that she left him no choice.

Devon will feel like pursuing legal shared custody is his only option, so Abby will ask to speak to him alone and get to the bottom of this.

Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) will be reluctant to leave Abby at first, but he’ll ultimately use this opportunity to grab coffee with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan).

Chance will want to talk to Amanda as Devon’s partner rather than his lawyer and see where Devon’s head is at.

Once Abby is alone with Devon, she’ll feel like this all goes back to Spain.

Abby will defend her decision to leave Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware) behind while she looked for her presumed dead husband.

Devon will admit he grew closer to Dominic while Abby was away, but he’ll promise this isn’t about the trip.

In fact, Devon will confess Abby isn’t the problem at all. He’ll question Chance’s ability to be a good parent and will worry about how Chance’s psychological state might affect Dominic.

After Devon argues that Dominic needs a father figure right now, he’ll think he can step up for him.

Abby will snap that she knew this was about more than shared custody. “You see yourself as our son’s father! I can’t even process that right now,” Abby will declare.

Devon will find it hurtful that Abby doesn’t see him as some type of father to Dom.

Devon will remind Abby that she left Dominic with him when she went to Spain. Devon will feel like Abby trusted him then and will wonder what’s changed for her now.

Abby will clarify that she trusts Devon as a godfather, honorary uncle and all the other roles they agreed upon.

Abby will be upset over Devon going back on their donor agreement since Dom already has a father – and his name is Chance.

Devon will protest that he’s not trying to be a threat. He’ll feel like he’s merely doing what’s best for Dominic, but Abby will argue that her family is working on healing.

Taking Dominic out of the house on even a partial basis will make Chance’s emotional state even worse in Abby’s opinion.

Devon won’t think it’s Dominic’s job to heal Chance, but Abby will accuse Devon of twisting her words.

When Devon insists he’s not backing down on doing what’s best for Dominic, Abby won’t agree he’s truly putting Dom first.

“You’re doing what’s best for you. And now I’m brokenhearted,” Abby will insist.

On the Crimson Lights patio, Chance will admit to Amanda that he understands where Devon is coming from.

Chance will worry he was too honest with Devon about his mental state and will regret opening up if he’s put the whole agreement in jeopardy.

However, Chance will think Devon should indeed be involved. He won’t see anything wrong with as many people loving their boy as possible.

Amanda will hope to keep a judge out of this, so Chance will agree that’s what they all want.

Amanda will clarify that Devon isn’t asking for full custody. He just wants to be legally recognized and be able to take care of Dom in his own home at prearranged times – that’s it.

Amanda won’t think that’s an outrageous request considering how much Devon has stepped up for Dom since the very beginning.

Once Chance and Amanda return to the Chancellor mansion, they’ll find the tense aftermath of Devon and Abby’s confrontation.

After Devon apologizes and thanks Abby for listening, he’ll take off with Amanda.

Abby will tell Chance that they have to call Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) and fight with everything they’ve got.

Abby will argue that Devon can’t possibly have a legal leg to stand on, but Chance will want to talk about this first.

“You don’t think Devon has a right to do this, do you?” a surprised Abby will ask.

Devon will head back to the penthouse with Amanda, who’ll want to make sure he’s OK with moving forward legally.

On a personal level, Amanda will empathize with Chance and Abby. However, Amanda will make it clear that from a professional standpoint, she has to advise Devon of what it’ll take to win.

Amanda will insist that the key will be convincing the judge of what’s in the best interest of the child.

Amanda will argue that they have to put Chance on trial since that’s their best shot at getting shared custody.

Amanda will want Devon to be prepared since things could get ugly. Even so, Devon won’t think he can back down on this.

At home, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) will arrive to find that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) has returned from Chicago sooner than anticipated.

Billy will confirm that things went well with Jill Abbott (Jess Walton), so he’ll be all set to serve as Lily’s COO.

Lily will bring Billy up to speed on Adam’s text, which Billy will also view as a veiled threat.

After Lily mentions confronting Adam over it, she’ll add that she spilled Billy’s COO news, too.

Now that Lily has told Adam and Ashland, she’ll be eager to tell the rest of the world with a press release.

At the coffeehouse, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) will mosey up to Ashland and Victoria Newman-Locke’s (Amelia Heinle) table.

Adam will assume she’s got something in the works regarding Newman Media and will lie that her little plan to turn Victor against him didn’t work.

Adam will act like it only pulled them closer, but Victoria will warn that their father may not always have Adam’s back.

As Adam gets up to leave, he’ll suggest Victoria shouldn’t be too confident that he’ll always have her back or Ashland’s either.

Victoria won’t be concerned over Adam’s threat and will be brimming with confidence once he goes.

Victoria will believe she must’ve planted doubts for Victor, so Ashland will enjoy watching Victoria work all the angles and stay a step ahead. Ashland will feel more certain than ever that they truly make a formidable team.

At the ranch, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) will show up to learn more about the job offer Victor recently mentioned.

Victor will talk about some reshuffling in regard to power and control happening. He’ll also admit to noticing some signs of immaturity in Adam and reveal that he’s taking on a more active role at Newman Media.

Michael won’t want to get caught in a Newman war, but Victor will promise he doesn’t intend to blow things up. He’ll also respect that Michael can’t be available all the time and will feel confident they can work past any obstacles.

Victor will want a brilliant legal mind like Michael’s to guide him through some difficulties ahead.

Victor will admit Ashland Locke is a wild card despite the love he shares with Victoria.

Victor won’t trust Ashland and will confess that it doesn’t sit right that the company he built is now Newman-Locke.

Victor will also have concerns about Ashland’s health improvement.

Victor will feel like Ashland might regret the merger if he makes a miraculous recovery, so he’ll want Michael by his side for what could be a volatile legal battle.

Victor will hint that things are about to become very interesting before sharing a toast with Michael.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Ashland will land in big trouble with Victor soon enough, so stay tuned!
