Tonight’s American Idol episode begins the top 12 performing for judges Luke Perry, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Night.” Host Ryan Seacrest announces that two Idol hopefuls are leaving tonight. This week, Adam Lambert is on hand to guide the artists.

Tyson Venegas is up first and Adam tells him that singing a Stevie Wonder song might really work for him, he hopes he picks one that shows up his strengths. Tyson is singing, “For Once In My Life,” by Steve Wonder. Tyson even throws in some cute dance moves, a little MJ there, and really plays to the audience.

Luke says that was so comfortable and for him to step out away out of the piano, and to have all that comfort, working the stage, connecting, the magic happened. Lionel says that his choreography on top of everything else, the way he pretend himself, he was on fire. Katy loved the fancy feet work, she loved it this late in the game and that is what they were looking for, it was authentic and cool, he could have a dance-off with Zachary.

Warren Peay sits down with Adam and tells him that last was the first week his fiance could make it to the show, so that was why he wasn’t wearing his hat. Warren chooses to sing, “House of the Rising Sun,” and Adam says that Warren definitely has an understanding of what that song means.

Lionel says that he could not have picked a more classed Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame animal song. Your voice resonated perfectly, you started out low but he came out of it. Katy says new hat, new him, a fiancé, its a life change, he had a bottle of grit. Luke says he is with Lionel, the front end was a little low, but overall great performance, he loves the gritty part of his voice.

Haven Madison is so excited that Adam is the mentor, she choose to sing “Livin’ On a Prayer,” because she grew up on it and her dad introduced her to Bon Jovi when she was younger. Adam loves that she can take the song and make it her own at such a young age.

Katy says she traded in her Flintstone vitamins for confidence vitamins, she is the next big pop star as far as this performance. Luke says it was a huge step out moment, everything she is putting out says massive star to him, he loves watching this happen and says it was breakout. Lionel says she was ready for this, her confidence is staring them in the face. There is a star written all over her, unbelievable.

Lucy Love is next, she was Lionel’s top 12 pick. She says she is grateful to be there. She has chose to sing Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long” because she wants to celebrate Lionel. Adam says her song choice is daring. Adam tells her that she is thinking too much, and when she smiles it sounds better.

Luke says he is so glad they brought her back, she should them so much character in her vocal movements that is unique to her, she put her stamp on the runs. Katy says the way she attacks things is like nobody else, she bodied that song. Lionel says she did such a great job, made his song, her song, crazy good.

Oliver Steels chose to sing “Georgia On My Mind,” by Ray Charles, he loves the song. Adam says a song you lived in is always easier. Adam tells him to make sure the song goes somewhere and electric might be better than acoustic.

Lionel says that was a classic song, he did a fabulous job, he loved his interpretation, make everything he does, him. Katy says she can’t get enough of his voice, but she maybe wanted to see the electric guitar, she hopes to see it. Luke says he has a timeless voice, he creates a mood when he sings, him being from Georgia, he was moved.

Colin Stough is next and Adam tells him that he saw that the last show was a big hit for him, it’s always good to have a moment, it gets your confidence up, but now he has to beat that performance. Colin sings “Midnight Rider,” by The Allman Brothers Band. Adam tells him to trust his instincts no matter what he does.

Katy says she loved the song, but she thinks he is in the growth stage, she wanted more attack and feeling, but he sounded great as always. Luke says he’s got the hair, he just has to work on getting comfortable, they want more body, more star, he’s got all the tools to do that. Lionel says there is no nice way to put it, they want him to get nasty, to let it go.

Marybeth Byrd is singing, “Dancing Queen,” by Abba because it has special meaning to her, it is on her mom’s songfest. Adam thinks the song is going to be a nice surprise. She says Adam helped her to stop over thinking.

Luke says she has gone Hollywood, he loved how she made that song her, she didn’t over do it, great job. Lionel says when you sing classic melodies just lean forward and that was all her. Katy congratulates her on pushing herself, she is really glam, Dolly Parton, and she landed that song like a real queen.

Adam Lambert provides an amazing performance by singing, “I Can’t Stand The Rain.” Adam says Idol launched everything for him, and he is so grateful. This October he on tour with Queen, and he loves them, they have so much fun.

Wé Ani is star struck when she meets Adam, she says he is so good-looking it hurts. He helps her to choose her song, “Something’s Got a Hold On Me,” by Etta James, and tells her to wear something hot.

Lionel says ‘wait a minute’ let him grip on this, that was how you bring nasty to the table, a breakout performance. Katy says she did not come here to play, she just turned this thing into a competition. Luke looked at Katy’s face and he has never seen that, and he has never heard the room that loud. Ryan says she is waking up the neighbours.

Nutsa says that Adam Lambert is her favourite artist, she tells him that she is going to sing “The Show Must Go On,” by Queen and he says he has sang it many times. He tells her to show the softer side of her voice, he loves the song through. She is going to try and make the song more angelic.

Katy tells her not to change, she doesn’t have to go to ten, she can control the room with a two. Luke says an important element to this business is to fight, and that is what she does, she makes all eyes on the room go on her and that is what this is all about. Lionel says forget the numbers, everyone one of her performances, she is a star, she made it as far as he is concerned. Ryan says he burns calories just watching her.

Megan Danielle is next and Adam tells her that her voice is bananas. She is singing, “Angel From Montgomery,” by Bonnie Raitt. He tells her to take the song to church a little bit, it will give her a moment. He says that it is people like her that make American Idol so special, she doesn’t know how good she is.

Luke says he is a mess, so emotional by what she did, that could stand out at the Grammys – what Adam told her was so right, she is the reason why American Idol works. Lionel says he doesn’t have to say more, it’s ditto, stellar performance. Katy says she believes 100% in her, she has her wings, there are so many metamorphosis going on tonight.

Zachariah Smith is starstruck as well, he tells Adam that he loves his jacket. Adam tells him that he has to put on a show and have the stylist have him wear something fly. Zachariah sings, “Don’t Bring Me Down,” by Electric Light Orchestra.

Lionel says Adam was right, he has to bring the party to the stage and he did. He loves his attitude, it is brilliant, his delivery, it is entertaining. He could sing a phone book and make it work. Katy says the feedback that Adam has been incredible, and they love him, he is just Zachariah. Luke says when he does that look, wow, great job.

Iam Tongi asks Adam how he said goodbye to all his friends in the competition and Adam says he had his eye on the prize, he wasn’t there to make friends. Yam has chosen “Bring it On Home,” by Sam Cooke without his guitar. Adam tells him to hold on to the mic stand instead to help him feel comfortable.

Katy tries to speak and she can’t be heard because of the audience shouting Iam’s name, she tells him he is magic. Luke says there is no way people can’t love Iam, thats special. Lionel is at a loss for words, the crowd is saying it all for them. Luke adds that it was brave to come out without his guitar. Iam says he hopes people think he is the “fly guy.”

Ryan has the results, two people will go home in just a few moments. Over 22 million votes came in, the first person in the top 10 is Warren, then Wé Ani, Ian, Megan, Zachariah, Haven, Colin, Oliver, Tyson and Mary Beth.

Nutsa and Lucy Love are eliminated.
