The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers recap for Friday, August 18, reveals that Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) watched Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) sharing some sweet daddy-daughter moments with Beth Spencer (Jordyn Lynn Ariza), so that tugged at her heartstrings.
Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) was there to whisper in Hope’s ear and remind her this was her life as well as her family.
After Beth opened presents, she said her favorite part of her birthday celebration was being with her mommy and daddy.
Since Liam and Hope needed to take the gifts Beth had received back to the cabin, they decided to let Beth keep playing with Kelly Spencer (Sophia Paras McKinlay) in the meantime.
Once Hope and Liam were gone, Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) said he hoped Beth wouldn’t be too devastated over her parents’ split.
Brooke mentioned that she got a vibe from Hope, who didn’t seem too happy about rushing into a divorce.
After RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman) insisted Liam was the one true love of Hope’s life, Brooke held out hope that her daughter’s family could come together again.
At Forrester Creations, Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) asked if Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) was hiding from the birthday party, but she said she just didn’t want things to be weird with Hope.
Ridge asked how Steffy was doing since he knew it was hard for her to move out of the cliff house – though he assured her she did the right thing.
Steffy admitted it was difficult to be away from her home and the family she shared with John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan).
However, Steffy was terrified of what Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) might do to get to Hayes Forrester Finnegan (Alexander and Chase Banks).
Ridge mentioned his conversation with Liam, who confessed how he felt about Steffy.
It left Ridge wondering if any old feelings had resurfaced for Steffy too, but she made it clear that she was still married and focused on her family.
Ridge insisted he wasn’t advocating for Liam and that he just wanted Steffy to be happy. Steffy ultimately flashed back to Liam kissing her in Rome and looked unsettled.
At the cabin, Liam and Hope reflected on their great day with Beth before talk turned to the divorce papers.
They were still in Liam’s car, so Hope wondered why he hadn’t filed them yet.
Liam was concerned since Hope had only gotten more famous since the fashion preview in Italy. The press would eventually get updates on their divorce news and have a field day.
Liam wanted to protect Beth since he didn’t think she’d understand. Hope got emotional at the thought of bursting Beth’s bubble after such a happy birthday.
Hope also said she’d been claiming that Liam was sleeping at work because of a big project, but he thought they’d need to have a different conversation with Beth soon.
Although this wasn’t what Liam wanted, he thought they both knew why they were there.
Hope acknowledged that Liam was still upset about Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), but Liam felt he got them to this point in their fractured marriage, too.
Nevertheless, Liam just couldn’t fathom how Hope let Thomas kiss and touch her after everything he’d done to them.
Hope assured Liam that she hadn’t forgotten what happened and that she knew how blessed she was to hold Beth in her arms.
Liam asked how Hope could turn to Thomas when he tried to keep Beth from them and called what Thomas did “evil.”
That led to Liam and Hope flashing back to the whole ugly story of Dr. Buckingham (Wayne Brady) stealing Beth and selling her to Steffy of all people.
Liam got Hope to remember the pain of losing Beth and praised Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri) for being brave enough to speak up about Thomas’ secret.
There were more flashbacks of Liam fighting off Thomas to prevent him from kidnapping Hope – and then the scene of Beth and Hope’s long-awaited reunion played as well.
Liam insisted that Thomas was content to let Hope grieve her own daughter forever, so Thomas was a dangerous person in his eyes.
Although Liam was angry and hurt, he still loved Hope and felt she needed to know something about Thomas.
“Whatever happens between us, you are better than him,” Liam told a weepy Hope as Friday’s B&B episode wrapped up.
The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers say things are shifting in Hope and Liam’s relationship again, so stay tuned to see if their marriage will pull through after all.
