The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers recap for Friday, December 8, reveals that John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) continued his research at the hospital, but Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) still thought Finn should get to the Forrester mansion for the party ASAP.
Li admitted she was envious of Eric Forrester (John McCook), who was lucky to have such a wonderful family and had so much to live for.
At the Forrester manse, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) assured Eric that they understood how special this night was.
Everyone seemed nervous about Steffy spilling the beans, but she just said they’d always look back on this evening and hyped Eric up as their leader in every way.
Eric shared some sweet moments with Bridget Forrester (Ashley Jones), Thorne Forrester (Winsor Harmon) and Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) before turning his attention back to Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis).
Eric told Donna that this party was more emotional than he thought it’d be and suggested it was almost like everyone knew about his condition.
Katie Logan (Heather Tom) asked how long Eric planned to keep it that way, so Eric said he would as long as he could.
While Donna was getting Eric a glass of Champagne, she overheard Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) and Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) discussing how Eric didn’t actually win the fashion challenge.
Donna panicked when she realized Ridge only let Eric think he won, so she worried Eric would figure it out and become enraged.
That’s why Donna was adamant that Eric couldn’t know about Ridge’s sacrifice since she didn’t know what it’d do to him in this condition.
Back with Eric, he offered more praise to Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada), RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman) and Zende Forrester Dominguez (Delon de Metz) as the gala continued.
Eric also spoke with Thomas and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) again, which led to a discussion about Hope’s name. Hope suggested that having that name taught her to never give up, even in the darkest times.
After Eric hugged Hope and Thomas, he called Steffy the jewel of the Forrester family. Steffy assured Eric that he’d been an inspiration to her and that she would always feel his presence.
Next on Friday’s B&B episode, Brooke approached Eric and expressed gratitude since he’d always been her champion. Eric was hopeful about Brooke and Ridge leading Forrester Creations into the future along with the family.
As Eric made a final speech, he acknowledged that Donna was his angel and talked about beating Ridge in the fashion challenge. However, Eric eventually got a strange look on his face and sought confirmation that he’d indeed won.
Ridge’s expression let Eric know that his son had lied, so Eric looked upset and asked why he would deceive him about something so important.
As Eric looked around the room and saw all the long faces, he seemed to understand that they all knew the truth and that must be the reason for Ridge’s sacrifice.
Eric had a surprising reaction since he said that was about the nicest thing anyone had ever done for him.
After Eric moved closer to thank Ridge, he suddenly collapsed and called out to Donna from the floor. Eric looked weak as he said it was OK and that it was his time.
Once Eric added that he was at peace with it, he urged his loved ones to be kind to each other and shut his eyes. Ridge kept calling out to his dad as Eric seemingly went toward the light.
