The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers recap for Monday, October 23, reveals that Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) interrupted Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) at Forrester Creations to ask if either of them had talked to Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) recently.
Ridge said Steffy was backpacking in the Alps the last time he heard. Brooke wondered if Steffy knew about Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) and Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown), but Ridge said she didn’t hear it from him.
After Ridge added that it wasn’t the kind of thing you leave in a voicemail, Liam looked like he felt a bit guilty over doing just that.
However, Liam kept quiet about blabbing the secret in his message and unconvincingly tried to make it seem like he was also there about Spencer Publications’ fashion show coverage.
Ridge seemed confused as he tried to direct Liam to Katie Logan (Heather Tom) since she was handling all that.
Next on Monday’s B&B episode, RJ Forrester (Joshua Hoffman) talked to Ridge about the fashion competition rules since he received updates from Katie.
It seemed like Ridge was changing things, but Ridge insisted it’d be best if the buyers didn’t know which designs were which.
RJ guessed Ridge was trying to prevent Eric Forrester (John McCook) from winning based on name value alone. Ridge disagreed and said he didn’t want Eric getting a victory just because it was his last collection.
There was also talk about RJ’s decision to work with Eric on this grand finale line, which still baffled Ridge.
If there was something going on with Eric that he didn’t know about, Ridge pushed RJ to be honest with him.
At the Forrester mansion, Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis) handed Eric another green juice and learned he was working on the walking order for his new collection.
Eric was pleased over the way RJ had executed his designs and said he was going to beat the pants off Ridge.
The topic of Eric’s imminent doctor’s appointment also came up shortly before Katie arrived.
Katie noticed Eric was having a major coughing fit, but he acted like it was allergies and left the room to get some cough drops.
When Katie expressed concern to her sister, Donna claimed Eric was just stressed over his grand finale.
Katie didn’t get why this had to be the end since it seemed like Eric had so much more to offer in his career.
Although Katie asked what was really going on, Eric returned and spoke to Donna about that appointment they had to get ready for. Katie took that as her cue to leave and headed out the door.
Once Eric was alone with Donna, he said he was sorry for putting her in a tough position with Katie.
Eric also confessed to coughing up a little blood, but he offered reassurance.
After Dr. Colin Colby (Justiin Davis) showed up with news on Eric’s condition, he revealed his patient’s diagnosis off-screen.
B&B writers seemingly kept things vague on purpose to avoid getting tripped up by the any medical details.
Donna said there has to be something more they could do and mentioned the idea of consulting specialists.
Dr. Colby assured Donna that they’d explore every avenue, but they had to be realistic about what Eric was dealing with.
Once Dr. Colby pushed Eric to save his strength, he strongly advised against moving ahead with the fashion show since it could literally be fatal.
If Dr. Colby thought he could tell Eric he was dying and expect him to just sit around waiting for it, Eric snapped that he was mistaken!
Eric said he’d go out on his own terms and make sure he saw these designs come to life.
Once Dr. Colby left, Donna was upset at the thought of losing Eric after just getting him back. Eric acted like he’d live until he was 110 years old and didn’t care what his doctor said.
Donna remained upset, but Eric tried to get her to focus on the present with him and not worry about some doctor saying he was going to die.
Katie overheard that part when she returned and confronted Donna after Eric stepped out. Donna confirmed it was true and accepted Katie’s comforting hug.
After Katie gave Donna a pep talk about Eric’s lifeforce being strong and vital, she found out Ridge was still in the dark on all this.
Katie was aghast and felt that Ridge had to know what Eric was up against.
