The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 1, reveals that John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) repeatedly thanked Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) and kept calling her “Mom” on the beach.
Although Finn was more grateful than Sheila would ever know, he said she needed to keep her distance and added that he couldn’t see her.
Kelly Spencer (Sophia Paras McKinlay) ran over to Finn’s side, so Sheila said she was just glad that Kelly was OK.
After Kelly thanked her again, Sheila left the beach and made her way to Deacon Sharpe’s (Sean Kanan) place.
Once Sheila told Deacon the story of how she saved Kelly, he admitted he previously thought she was crazy for thinking she’d convince Finn that she belonged in his life.
Now Deacon was thinking Sheila might’ve pulled off the impossible today.
At the cliff house, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) got Finn’s voicemail again and told Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) that the service could be a little spotty down at the beach.
Liam normally would’ve trusted Finn to watch Kelly, but it felt different after seeing him all cozy with Sheila.
Now Liam couldn’t trust Finn’s judgment, which meant he couldn’t trust him to protect Kelly from Sheila.
Steffy argued that Finn loved Kelly as if she were his own daughter and rushed to his defense.
However, Liam felt that his number one job was to take care of Kelly and her mother. Liam assured Steffy that he loved her and that wasn’t going to change.
After Liam’s phone buzzed about a situation at work, he said Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) could deal with it. Steffy urged Liam to go if he needed to since Kelly would be fine.
Liam insisted Sheila was a psychopath who was obsessed with his daughter’s stepdad, so he felt he had good reasons to worry.
Although Steffy hated watching that video of Finn hugging Sheila, she believed there had to be an explanation and still felt confident Finn would protect his family.
Liam thought back to when Kelly was born again and reiterated that it was his job to protect her as well as her mom.
Since Liam’s gut was telling him that Finn was vulnerable to Sheila, he refused to let Kelly and Steffy pay the price for that.
Once Liam’s phone vibrated over more work drama, Steffy urged him to go deal with it and promised to text him once she got updates from Finn.
After Steffy said Finn knew would Sheila was capable of, she admitted she appreciated Liam being so concerned for her along with Kelly.
At Spencer Publications, Wyatt found Liam and thought he seemed a little jealous over Finn spending time with Kelly.
Liam argued that it wasn’t like that and admitted Steffy didn’t react the same way he did to the video he showed her.
Although Steffy wanted to believe Finn would never let any harm come to her or the kids, Liam confessed that he just didn’t trust the guy now.
Back at the cliff house on Tuesday’s B&B episode, Finn finally brought Kelly home to Steffy.
Kelly rushed into Steffy’s arms and admitted something really scary happened on the beach.
After Kelly said she almost drowned, Steffy hugged her and got confirmation that Finn checked her out to be sure she was all right.
Kelly explained how she got sucked in the ocean, but then Finn’s mom saved her. Steffy assumed Kelly meant Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda), but Kelly clarified that it was Sheila instead.
As Steffy glared at Finn, he insisted he could explain. While Kelly was in the shower, Steffy pushed for answers and heard Finn’s version of events.
Finn admitted he put his earbuds in for a phone call and turned his back to shield himself from the wind so that he could hear.
Steffy blew up at Finn since you never turn your back on a child at the beach!
After Finn finally heard Kelly crying for help, he said he rushed over to get her and saw that Sheila had come to her rescue.
Steffy asked “what the hell” Finn was thinking and demanded to know what Sheila was even doing there.
Finn didn’t know, but he was grateful that Sheila was indeed in the right place at the right time.
Steffy looked horrified as Finn defended Sheila and declared that his mother saved Kelly’s life.
