The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers recap for Monday, August 21, reveals that Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) pushed Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) to step out of the Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) fog. If there was ever a day to do that, it was Beth Spencer’s (Jordyn Lynn Ariza) birthday.
Liam wondered how Hope could have any involvement with Thomas whatsoever and “respectfully” asked if she’d lost her “damn mind!” If Thomas had his way, Liam argued that they wouldn’t have celebrated Beth’s birthday today.
Liam thought back to witnessing the Rome make-out session, so Hope admitted she never meant to hurt him. After Liam confirmed he knew that, he suggested Hope had lost herself and wanted to help her find her way back.
Once Liam touched Hope’s hand, he said he wasn’t criticizing or bashing. Liam just wanted Hope to see how far away from Hope Logan she was at this point.
Although both Hope and Liam tried to see the best in people, Liam argued that didn’t apply to people like Thomas. After Liam made his big speech, he assured Hope that she wasn’t alone and that there was a path back to who she used to be.
At the Forrester mansion, Thomas stopped by to see Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and got grilled about his bond with Hope. Now that Hope and Liam’s marriage seemed to be ending, Steffy wondered what that meant for Hope and Thomas.
Thomas just wanted Hope’s happiness, so Steffy asked what if Hope wanted to repair her marriage and reconcile with Liam. That led to Thomas reiterating that he wanted to see Hope happy and fulfilled, even if it meant a Liam reunion.
However, Thomas didn’t think Hope was getting back together with Liam since the divorce papers were already signed. Once Thomas suggested it was just a matter of time until Hope’s marriage was officially over, Steffy assumed Thomas would be there waiting for her.
At Forrester Creations, Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) showed Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) a pic of Beth and Kelly Spencer (Sophia Paras McKinlay) at the party together.
Beth was a true miracle – and Brooke hoped maybe the birthday girl could make another one happen for her parents.
Although Ridge acknowledged that a love like that doesn’t just go away, he added that staying together for the kids wasn’t always the best solution.
Brooke felt Liam and Hope should keep fighting and dropped a hint about the reason for all the trouble before trailing off.
Ridge assumed Brooke thought none of this would’ve happened if it hadn’t been for Thomas, but he argued that Hope instigated everything.
Brooke acknowledged that was true and wished Hope respected her marriage more than she did. All Brooke could do now was pray that Liam and Hope could find a way to reunite their family.
When Thomas found Ridge alone at the office later, he faced his father’s interrogation. Ridge said they should assume for a moment that Thomas did more than kiss Hope and asked what was going on between them.
Back at the Forrester mansion, Liam gave Steffy updates on the party before admitting Hope actually seemed to listen at the cabin afterward. For the first time, it felt like Liam maybe got through to Hope regarding Thomas.
Next on Monday’s B&B episode, Brooke dropped by the cabin to check in with Hope. After Brooke said Hope and Liam could never forget what they went through to make sure Beth was part of their lives, Hope asked if she planned this with Liam.
That left Brooke confused, so Hope explained that Liam felt the need to remind her of everything she went through with Thomas. Liam thought Hope had lost her way and was still hurt about her kissing Thomas in Rome.
Brooke was glad Liam only knew about the make-out session and not the time Hope spent in bed with Thomas. Hope admitted that seeing Liam being an amazing father at the birthday bash put things into perspective a little bit.
After Hope said maybe Liam was right, she acknowledged that it was out of character for her to cheat on her husband and sleep with another man.
As Hope reflected on her actions, she thought the problem might be that she didn’t know who she was anymore.
Brooke clearly thought Hope’s breakthrough was great news and said this meant Hope was coming back to herself. Although Hope got swept up with Thomas, Brooke warned that she needed to put an end to that and focus on her family.
Once Brooke assured Hope that it wasn’t too late to fight, Hope looked deep in thought.
