The Young and the Restless Recap: Friday, June 9 – Summer’s Fake Witness to Save Phyllis – Diane’s Fancy New Title

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, June 9, reveals that Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) will remind Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) that the chief talent officer position is opening up at Jabot. Since it would send a message to Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), Diane will pitch herself for the job.

Jack will decide that after everything Diane has been through, he wants her to dream big. Once Jack suggests Diane would be great in the role, he’ll assure her that he can make this happen.

In Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) now empty suite, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will tell Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) that Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) has known where her mom was for weeks and presumably helped her escape.

In Cameron Kirsten’s (Linden Ashby) room, he’ll look rough after letting Jimmy beat up his face. Cameron will get on the phone with the GCPD to report an assault.

In the park, Summer will tell Daniel Romalotti Jr. (Michael Graziadei) that Phyllis wanted to turn herself in, but she couldn’t let her.

While they’re discussing everything, Chance will saunter over and demand answers about where Phyllis is now.

Summer will speak with Chance alone and claim that she has no idea since Phyllis took off right after Kyle left her suite.

However, Summer will eventually hint that she could tell Chance something more if he gives her a guarantee that Phyllis won’t be arrested.

Chance will rant about Summer withholding information and will point out that he could arrest her for helping a fugitive.

When Chance gets a phone call, he’ll leave without telling Summer what it was about.

At Crimson Lights, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will be filling in for Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) behind the counter when Chance accuses him of taking matters into his own hands.

Nick will deny doing anything more than warning Cameron to leave and will think he was justified in paying him that visit.

Chance will point out that Cameron wants to press charges against Nick for battery – and after what happened with Ashland Locke (Robert Newman), Chance won’t be able to give him the benefit of the doubt again.

Between Cameron’s messed-up face and Nick’s bruised knuckles from the wall punch, things won’t look good for the angry Newman.

Cameron will show up and push Chance to make the arrest, so Chance will put Nick in handcuffs, read him his rights and drag him off to the police station.

At home, Devon Hamilton-Winters (Bryton James) will think it’s time to put his plan in motion and get closer to Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) to learn if he’s got a deeper agenda.

Abby Newman-Abbott (Melissa Ordway) will decide Devon shouldn’t do this alone, so they’ll invite Ashley and Tucker out for dinner at Society via text.

Once Tucker and Ashley receive the invitation, they’ll realize they’ll have to give Devon and Abby updates on their engagement.

Ashley will feel like they should be honest about having two motives for this marriage since they’re in it for both love and as a power play.

At dinner, Abby and Devon will struggle to believe this engagement is legit, especially since Ashley and Tucker previously talked about a fake one.

Ashley will insist their feelings are genuine and will mention her plan to make Tucker part of her senior management team. After Ashley says she’s floating the idea of removing Jack as Jabot’s CEO, Abby will assume Tucker is just manipulating Ash all over again.

Ashley will argue that Tucker actually tried to get her to walk away from Jabot and her Diane fixation, but she’ll be grateful for his support and will hope she has Abby’s as well.

Abby will apologize for thinking the worst of Tucker – and Devon will think he owes Tucker an apology, too.

Tucker will insist the remorse isn’t necessary and will just seem happy to be helping Ashley carry out her plans.

Once Abby is alone with Devon, she’ll admit that Tucker and Ashley baffle her. Abby won’t know whether she should be more worried about Tucker using Ashley or Ashley using Tucker!

Back at the Abbott house, Y&R spoilers say Kyle will give Jack and Diane some huge news.

Since Summer knew Phyllis was alive for far longer than she let on and hid her location, Kyle will complain about her betrayal.

Jack will fume along with Kyle, but Diane will think Summer deserves compassion and forgiveness.

Phyllis will be the villain in all of this according to Diane, who’ll think Summer was a victim like they were.

After Diane pushes Kyle to put himself in Summer’s shoes, he’ll argue that Summer chose a lie over their marriage. Kyle won’t know how he’s supposed to get past that.

In the park, Daniel will meet back up with Summer, who’ll worry that Phyllis will run and that they’ll never see her again.

Daniel won’t think there’s any way to prove Phyllis acted in self-defense against Jeremy Stark (James Hyde), but Summer will have a lightbulb moment.

Summer will speculate about what would happen if there was a witness, but Daniel will insist there wasn’t one.

Since the cops don’t know that, Summer will hint that maybe someone would be willing to come forward for the right price and say they saw everything that happened.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Summer may play with fire by breaking the law once more, so stay tuned to see if this puts her in hot water.
