The Young and the Restless Recap: Thursday, February 9 – Diane Goes After Phyllis’ Job – Jack Snoops on Kyle’s Phone

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Thursday, February 9, reveals that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) will accidentally leave his phone at home, so that’ll give Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) a chance to see Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) text. Victor will thank Kyle for his help with the Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) matter and suggest Kyle should stay tuned.

At Jabot, Kyle will find Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) sitting in the CEO chair with her feet propped up, but she’ll assure Kyle that job is beyond her reach.

However, Diane will still think it’s time for her to move up and will suggest she could take over running Marchetti Home.

Since Diane used to be a real estate agent and an architect, she’ll think she can bring useful skills to the table.

Kyle will wonder if Diane is seriously angling for Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) old job and will warn that it’d be a combustible situation.

Nevertheless, Diane will contend that this is about her desire to be part of the Abbott family and belong to something.

Kyle will soften once he hears that, but he’ll warn that he can’t just give her this job and will want to talk to Summer Newman-Abbott (Allison Lanier) about it.

When a brooding Jack comes in, he’ll pass along Kyle’s phone.

Kyle will mention Summer being out of town on a factory visit and will privately call her about Diane’s promotion request.

Although Kyle will get that Phyllis would be even more upset than she already is, he won’t think they can outright dismiss the idea.

That said, Kyle will suggest they should give it some time and maybe Diane will just forget all about it.

Back with Diane, she’ll push Jack for updates on what’s bothering him. Jack will admit to seeing Victor’s text, so he’ll know Kyle’s been lying about their alliance.

After Jack rants about Kyle’s betrayal, his son will return to the CEO office. That’ll give Jack a chance to confront Kyle about lying to him.

At Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) place, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) will be grateful for Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) help with the jammed printer since his book report was due.

Adam will notice Chelsea’s in a good mood, so Connor will point out she’s been happy ever since her dinner with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).

While Connor’s in the other room, Adam will approach Chelsea in the kitchen and guess her “date” with Billy went well.

Chelsea will argue that they’re just friends, but Adam will warn about Billy getting bored with his savior act and letting Chelsea down.

After Chelsea pushes Adam to get over his hatred and let her make her own decisions, he’ll agree to try harder.

At Crimson Lights, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will talk to Billy about his breakup with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and how this will be a difficult transition for the kids.

Billy will recall that Victoria wasn’t exactly thrilled when he started dating Lily, so Victoria will remember facing jealousy accusations.

Once Victoria admits she was indeed jealous back then, she’ll clarify that it was because Lily got the mature, responsible version of Billy that he couldn’t give her.

Victoria will wonder what this breakup news means for Billy and Chelsea, but he’ll act like that won’t affect anything.

Even so, Victoria will get that maybe a deeper connection has developed and will urge Billy to take his time if that’s the case.

Since Katie Abbott (Sienna Mercuri) has been a little jealous of all the time Billy’s been spending with Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind) and Connor, Victoria will think Billy needs to be mindful of how his actions affect their family.

At Newman Enterprises, Victoria will arrive right as Victor’s wrapping up a call with someone on the board of the bank that owns Tucker McCall’s (Trevor St. John) debt. Victor will suggest they might be willing to offer it as less than face value.

Victoria will think it’ll be cleaner and faster to just pay the going rate, so Victor will realize she wants to move quickly before Tucker knows what hit him.

Talk will turn to Victor’s plan to get Adam back into the Newman fold, but Victoria will think this is only going to end in Victor getting hurt badly.

Victoria won’t believe Victor owes Adam anything and will push her father to just let Adam go.

Victor will admit he’s tried to shut Adam out, but he can’t and doesn’t want to.

Despite Victoria’s concerns about the negative impact on their family, Victor will act like he can handle it and will refuse to give up on Adam.

Back at the coffeehouse, Adam will talk to Connor on the patio about all the changes he’s been dealing with – including Billy hanging around a lot.

Connor will be cool with it, but Adam will insist his son can always talk to him if things are less than great.

When Billy appears, he’ll wish Connor good luck on his book report.

Connor will wait for Adam in the car, so Billy will assume he’s going to hear Adam’s opinion on his dinner out with Chelsea.

Adam will admit he’s got plenty of opinions, but he’ll choose to keep them to himself.

Instead, Adam will suggest he wants to step up and take the boys on their next outing together, so Billy will agree to set up a date and time.

Chelsea will enter and fear a blowup’s about to happen, but she’ll quiz Billy afterward and learn Adam was astonishingly restrained.

Once Chelsea confesses that she asked Adam to back off, she’ll be shocked that he actually listened.

Billy will mention Victoria having concerns of her own, but Chelsea will be done caring what anyone else thinks.

After Chelsea says she’s good with where they’re at, both Chelsea and Billy will acknowledge that they’re friends.

Once Adam arrives at Jabot, he’ll eavesdrop outside Jack’s office and hear the confrontation that’s playing out.

Jack will mention the message he saw on Kyle’s phone, but Kyle will act like maybe Victor sent it to the wrong number.

Of course, Jack won’t buy that, so he’ll insist Kyle’s been colluding with Victor behind his back.

When Jack asks why Kyle is so determined to run Adam out of Jabot, Kyle will finally explode.

“Because he doesn’t belong here, Dad!” Kyle will blurt out angrily on Thursday’s Y&R episode.

The Young and the Restless spoilers say Kyle will stand his ground on Adam’s outsider status, so stay tuned for more conflict.
