In tonight’s Blue Bloods episode, Detective Danny Reagan got involved in a domestic dispute. He and his partner were called to the home of Nia Fox. Nia was very beaten up.

She kept saying that her husband didn’t mean to do it, but according to her neighbors the truth was her husband does this a lot. He gets violent with her. She never presses charges because she keeps believing he’ll change. She didn’t even want to tell the cops where her husband was.

She only agreed to do it in return for them not arresting him. The cops later showed up at James Fox’s work. They warned him that if he touched his wife again that they were going to arrest him. And the guy seemed more concerned about them daring to chastise him.

Danny has been doing this job a long time. He knew he was going to get another call to that address. It was all a matter of time with people like that.

Danny knew the women’s pleading wasn’t going to change anything. Nor the fact that they have a child at home when this happens. James has never hit the son and so Nia doesn’t believe it negatively affects her son as it does her. She would be wrong about that. Its never okay to teach boys to hurt women or girls. They’ll just repeat what they believe is normal.

Danny was struggling with that as his father was struggling with his own job. Commissioner Frank Reagan was asked by the Mayor to do him a favor.

The favor was to support him in suspending the Right to Shelter Law. The law was currently being used to house undocumented immigrants that Texas was sending up by the bus load.

It cost the city about five billion last year. The Mayor wanted to stop accepting these people into the city. He even wanted Frank to make up statistics about it increasing crime. Frank tried to tell him that they weren’t responsible for the increase in crime.

The crime rate was still technically low. Which wasn’t good enough for Mayor Chase. He wanted to make it seem like the immigrants were causing problems and this was coming from a man that once welcomed them with hot coffee as well as a handshake.

The guy that did that was gone. In his place was a man that now wanted to stay Mayor at all costs. He didn’t think he could do that if he moved the immigrants into shelters around the boroughs. They wanted to stay in the city. Also, the boroughs didn’t want them.

Frank told his people about what the Mayor said. They believe he should back the Mayor. They came up with statements he could say and that it would solve the current housing issue. Only Frank didn’t feel comfortable with those words or their statements.

He instead found time to talk to his daughter-in-law’s partner on the job. Officer Luis Badillo’s family was from the Dominican Republic. His dad was one of seven brothers. He grew up with lots of cousins. He was grateful for his chance in the United States and he’s now a cop.

Being a cop wasn’t easy. Eddie literally watched a preteen boy rob a store. Her own boss told him to cut him loose because the Corporation Council rarely brings charges against thieves.

Its why the store didn’t bother to stop him or report it. Eddie could make a complaint though. She was a firsthand witness. Erin suggested she make a complaint.

Eddie did so and the boy’s mother thanked her. This kid doesn’t know right from wrong. He needed to learn his lesson. Eddie was doing her best to teach him that. And everyone believes he learned that by locked up next to a criminal.

The criminal was actually Anthony but he didn’t need to know that.

Eddie got in trouble with her boss because of that. The same way Baker got in trouble with Frank for inviting Badillo over to his office without the Commissioner’s approval.

But Baker did what she did because she knew that Frank needed to hear the other side. Frank saw that for himself as well. Frank didn’t fire Baker.

He also couldn’t support the Mayor. He later told the Mayor that and they still had dinner together. They just put politics to the side. They’ve both been in power for so long that its lonely at the top. And so these two knew each other better than they thought they did.

Danny also did get a call back to this house. This time James had been murdered. His wife killed him and her father was taking the blame for it. Nia’s father was Darryl Reid.

He was Danny’s first partner. He’s the guy that saved Danny’s career back in the day. Darryl wanted to serve that jail time only he wasn’t guilty.

There was security footage that showed he wasn’t there when his son-in-law got murdered. Erin refused to try him. She took Nia to court. Nia made a deal. She’ll go to prison for six months. Three if she’s on her best behavior.

Darryl meanwhile will watch his grandson until his daughter gets out of prison. He wasn’t mad at Danny for not being able to sell the lie.

He knew his daughter wouldn’t have gotten such a great deal without him and his report of her being a battered wife. And funnily enough Frank decided to support the Mayor in suspending that law. It wasn’t easy. It just needed to be done.

And Jamie returned from his undercover work to see his family at the next family dinner. He doesn’t tell them that he’s undercover in a sex trafficking ring or that he almost had to risk his cover to stop a bunch of girls from getting burnt up in a car. He simply says he’s home and they take him back.

THE END!
