Fire Country Recap
Gabriela was a little all over the place. She doesn’t know what she wants. She can’t make a decision to save her life. She chose to give up being a diver to become a firefighter and so why she was back to diving tonight. She’s been diving off a cliff without supervision. She injured herself because she hadn’t done anything like that in a couple of years. She’s rusty.
She was also unwise with other parts of her life. She went out drinking. She ran into Captain Casey and he had to carry her back to her airstream. He made sure she got home okay. And she said a lot of things while she was drunk, so he didn’t want to run into her again.
Casey asked the Leones to return her driver’s license. She left it at the bar. Casey had to explain what happened to the Leones and in a way he kinda reported her for drunkenness. The Leones were two Chiefs.
They’d have to do something if he officially reported it and they still had to talk to her for an unofficial/official reporting. Sharon was the one that returned the license to Gabriela. She saw Gabriela’s wound. She offered to help dress it. She tried to get Gabriela to open up and the woman refused to get out of her own way.
Gabriela even claimed her injury was from rock climbing. She didn’t say that she was back to diving or that she injured herself jumping off a cliff. The last time that Gabriela did something like that – she was chasing after Bode who fell off a bridge in a car. It wasn’t her finest moment then.
It still wasn’t today. Gabriela also couldn’t rely on Bode to take her mind off things. Bode pulled the plug on their relationship. He couldn’t keep waiting around for her and she didn’t want to commit to him. Bode ended things because she didn’t give him any other option.
It made it awkward when the firefighters got called to a fire. Sharon was riding with Gabriela. Bode was riding with Casey. Casey had threatened to fail Bode and so Bode went to the call to prove himself. Only the call wasn’t like they suspected.
he security guard said it was a false alarm. Sharon left the scene with her team. She told Casey to go floor by floor to make sure there wasn’t a fire. Casey stayed behind with Bode and Audrey. They were searching the back when they found the hostages. The security guard was actually robbing the place.
He had a gun. He pulled it on the firefighters. He pulled the fire alarm because he wanted them to use their tools to open the vault in the back. It was a weed dispensary. They have a lot of cash on hand. The security guard was desperate. His name is Shane. He used to work there.
They fired him over a year ago. He couldn’t find any other job. He had to give up his apartment, his car, and even his dog. He wanted the money in the vault because he’s desperate. He wants to start over somewhere fresh and he thinks he could do that by robbing a dispensary.
Shane had Audrey’s zip tied along with his former coworkers. Bode and Casey were breaking into the vault. Casey wanted to bum-rush Shane. Bode talked him out of it. He said if Casey did it that he would have to do it too. Bode also said that Shane was out of options.
He has nothing to lose by that point. He thought that the made the man even more dangerous and he wasn’t wrong. Audrey tried to call for help. Shane spotted her. He shot her in the shoulder. He did that as a warning to the others and Casey didn’t want any more of his people getting hurt.
While they were being held hostage, Casey’s list of graduates came out. Bode wasn’t on it. He didn’t pass Casey’s test. Casey was going to fail him. It upset Bode’s friends and family. They were worried about what Bode would do and Bode had already made peace with it.
Casey told him at the start of the shift that he wasn’t going to pass him. Bode still carried out the shift because he wanted to be a firefighter as long as he could be. Then the hostage situation happened. They opened the vault and that wasn’t enough for Shane.
Shane didn’t seem like he wanted to let any of them go. He wanted to get away with the money before anyone realized. Casey had had enough by that time and he fought Shane for the gun. Bode stepped in to help. They got the gun off of Shane. Only they started a fire.
He accidentally shot an oxygen tank and the bullet created a fire. The firefighter had to clear the building. Bode made sure to empty the gun first. He then helped the others get out of their restraints and they got the hostages outside away from the fire.
Shane was warned to leave. He refused to do so because he was still trying to get as much money as he could from the vault. Casey couldn’t leave him to die in the fire. He went back to his truck. He got the appropriate gear and his cadets did the same. They all went back into the fire to save Shane.
He didn’t deserve it only they still saved him. They got him outside. Shane got medical treatment. The same for Audrey. Bode also talked to Casey. Casey saw Bode as a surrogate for his baby brother. Its why he was so tough on him.
Casey came to see he was being unfair to Bode. He went back on his decision to pass him. Bode became a firefighter along with Audrey. Audrey also broke up with her boyfriend and so becoming a firefighter helped her to get her priorities straight.
They had a big celebration for the cadets. Gabriela chose to skip it. Sharon was really worried about her. She tried to talk to Manny about it. Manny told her to keep trying to reach his daughter. He was there for Bode when Bode needed him. Manny thought it was only fair that Sharon be there for Gabriela now.
There was just one difference. Gabriela couldn’t see that Sharon was worried. She just it as interference and so she ran off. She went back to the bar. She ran into Jake there. Jake just found out Genieve was staying in Idaho. She wanted to be with her biological father and her siblings.
It hurt Jake because he saw Genieve as his daughter, but he chose to do the right thing for her. He was going to give her up and to help himself feel better he slept with Gabriela.
Bode won’t mind because he developed a flirtatious new relationship with Audrey.
