In tonight’s America’s Got Talent episode, his name is King. He’s nine years old. He came to “America’s Got Talent” because his big dream was to do it all. He wanted his own tv show. He wanted tour around the world. He wanted to star in movies. If he won, he wanted to take parents on a cruise with rollercoasters. He especially enjoyed the cruise idea because he heard he could eat free ice cream in the jacuzzi. King was a riot and he also was an adept rapper. He wrote the song he performed tonight back when he was five ½. And it had been so great that he was the first of the night to make it into the next round.
Next up was Alan. He was twenty-four. He was from Brazil. He has great head of hair and he’s a magician. His magical act required paper, something that looked like eggs, and even cards. He didn’t talk during the act. He let the magic do the talking for him. It was great magic. Only Mel found it lacking. The storytelling wasn’t quite there for her and she let Alan know as much. She later gave Alan a no. It didn’t matter in the end because the other three judges gave him yesses. He’s going into the next round and he’s vowed to impress Mel later.
Alan was followed by Andrea. She was a scientist. She has a PHD in Chemical Engineering. She came to AGT to break the world record of hula hooping around her butt. The current record was for an hour. In order to break that record, Andrea’s entire act couldn’t be shown live. They simply didn’t have time for the whole thing in the show. She was actually going to be doing this off to the side while the show frequently checks in with her and they carried on with other acts. Like Ober.
Ober was a group from Tokyo. They did a lot of break dancing and somehow managed to combine it with double-dutch. It was a lot harder than it looked. It’s unclear if they made it through the next round. The same goes for Promotion. Promotion is a group from London. They were another dance group. They managed to do amazing things with a mixture of break dancing and slow motion. They impressed the judges. It just wasn’t revealed if they made it or not because these dance groups were being treated as background noise.
The real focus remained on Andrea’s booty. She was twenty minutes in by that point. The next act in the meantime is the first band of the night. They are the Appalachian Heathens. They come from a small town with a great view of the Appalachian mountains. The band was started by Bill Taylor. They weren’t professional singers or performers. They shared a passion for music and put on a great performance of “Knocking On Heaven’s Door”. It was perfect. They really made the song into their own with their rendition.
Howie called it a great “American sound”. The judges really loved that band. They gave them all yesses and they were moving on into the next round. Next up was a pair of what looked like men in black. They didn’t talk. They didn’t give their names or mention what their act was about. They simply carried on with the performance and the performance comprised of them first stripping down to their underwear. Those muscled man wanted everyone to see the cost of precision. They were acrobats. Athletes!
They did eventually reveal their names. It’s Lucas and Misha. They’re originally from Poland. They now live in Las Vegas and work as full-time acrobats. Most of the judges loved the act. Simon openly stated that he got bored halfway through. He wanted to give a half yes for the half he found entertaining. There was no such option on AGT. The others judges reminded him of that and all that mattered was that Lucas and Misha got enough yesses to go into the next round.
The following act was perhaps the most controversial. Everyone by now knows of the name, Tom Sandoval. He created what was called “scandoval”. He’s a reality tv star that cheated on his then girlfriend. They were apparently having problems. She just lost her grandmother. She was struggling and he decided to solve that by sleeping with her friend. It was all captured on the tv show “Vanderpump Rules”. Meaning everyone got to see how much of a jerk he was. It was a double doozer too because Tom was once cheated on as well and he ended his relationship forever.
Tom was even named the “most hated man in America” at one time. He was dragged through the mud. Sure, he deserved it but it was hard on him. He had everyone hating him and wishing for him to fail. It’s kind of hard to come back from that. Tom then turned to his real passion. Which was music. He went retro with his band tonight. They performed “Take On Me”. It wasn’t outstanding vocally. Tom let nerves get to him. It was still entertaining and it allowed Tom to find his joy again after a tough time.
If he could have done that a couple of years ago, the scandal wouldn’t have existed. Tom was making his comeback and it helps that he got the yesses he needed to go into the next round. Tom was followed by Vehevii and Vlada. They were familiar faces to Simon because they auditioned on “Britain’s Got Talent”. Simon didn’t like them then. He was weary of them now. He told Sofia that he’s seen better. The duo were using roller skates and aerial work to pull off the performance. And they did win Simon over.
Simon loved the moment that sparklers ignited on Vlada’s shoes. It happened right as she was being spun in the air. It blew everyone away. Sofia couldn’t help herself with this one. She gave them the Golden Buzzer. Simon felt that should have been his. He’s the one that shot them down in Britain and made them come back stronger than ever. He was taking full credit for their improvement. They were followed by Chuck Adams. He was a musician. He once signed a record deal that went south like so many do.
Chuck was now forty. He still wanted to pursue his music. His mom has been encouraging him to try out for AGT and he finally did. Chuck performed “Iris”. He accompanied himself on the guitar. It was a beautiful rendition. It won him a spot in the next round. The show also checked in with Andrea. She had thirty seconds left to break the world record. They did a count off. Andrea made it and was now in the book of world records. And she still didn’t want to give up.
Andrea wanted to keep going for as long as possible. She didn’t want anyone beating her record anytime soon. She carried on off to the side as Isaac Johnson showed off his act. Isaac was offbeat. He could apparently fit just about everything into his mouth. It was so freakish. Simon was first to press his reject button. Mel was second. They just wanted the act to end and thankfully it did. They won’t be seeing Isaac after tonight. Andrea also wrapped up her hula hooping.
Andrea’s record time was one hour and fifteen minutes. She also later showed off that she could hula hoop just with her chest. She might end up breaking in that too. Andrea also got the yesses to enter the next round. Next up was Shuler King. His family business was going to increase tenfold after tonight. He’s a comedian, funeral director, and licensed embalmer. He had everyone laughing. This included Howie from backstage. Howie brought up that Simon always said two minutes can change your life.
Shuler replied he knows because that’s how he got his kids. He was such a funny guy. The judges love him and he easily entered the next round because everyone wanted to hear from him. As for the last act of the night, it was Benn family. There were seven siblings in all although it was only five that went onstage tonight. The family was pushed out of their homes before ultimately their city was wiped by wildfires massive fires. They now perform in the hope of rebuilding what they lost.
They performed “Rescue You”. It was such a moving performance that it left many in tears. The emotion was there. The hope was there. It really resonated with everyone and there was no doubt whatsoever that they earned all four yesses after tonight.
THE END!
