In the next Match Me Abroad episode, Sarah needed some confidence. It’s one thing to bring her mother as backup. It just couldn’t turn into a permanent attachment for every occasion. Her mom was going to sit some these things out. Plus, Sarah has a matchmaker. Dolly set her up with a nice guy named Freddy.
He was laid back. He was an artist. He was in his thirties. He likes jewelry and she makes jewelry. The one issue would be success. Sarah couldn’t determine how successful he was. She dates only successful men and she’s not hearing Freddy say he has a business or an intention of building a business. He instead said he sings a little, does beat boxing, and that his artist soul has him appreciative of the world around him.
It sounds great. It might not be realistically great. Sarah was looking for a man to build a life with. Someone to have kids with. Someone who brings a lot to the table and Freddy remained a mystery at the start of the night. Amber had that same kind of feeling when she first met Keavan.
He was great. He just didn’t seem hardworking or ambitious. American women love an ambitious man. He can’t be too ambitious as Amber’s date with Paul shows because then he starts doing everything and she does mean everything for himself.
Paul built his own house. He was at that point in life where he has a compost toilet that feeds into his backyard garden. He then fed her tea grown from that garden. Or as Amber called it, “poop tea”. Amber was ready for a man that was independent but still on the grid. Some kind of happy median. She went back to Keavan because she likes him. His issue was that he lives with his parents. It doesn’t show he wanted to break away or get his own place. And so Amber went back for a second date just to hear what his goals are.
Another American was also featured tonight. His name is Tony. Tony was insecure about his hair. He started balding early and so he tattooed his head to make it look like it was cropped short when really there’s nothing there. Tony also said he holds himself to a high standard. It wasn’t high at all.
His stomach was flabby. He belches out loud. He doesn’t bother trying to hide it in a shoulder or a hand. He’s also all about looks. Not his. He used AI pictures of himself on dating app stateside. He thought that was comparable to women wearing makeup and using filters. Mind you he also uses filters.
Well, the women on those sites were sick of the catfishing because now he’s traveling abroad. Tony headed to Brazil because he said they have the most beautiful women down there. He was going to meet up with matchmaker, Luiza. Luiza asked him about his perfect partner before they officially met and it was all about looks.
Nothing about personality. Or character. Tony wants a Brazilian barbie. It was up to Luiza to make him realize that a match made on looks was never going to last. Does he want a partner or someone on his arm for the next five years? Luiza was feeling dejected.
The same for Harrold. Harrold has been on two dates so far. They were both duds. The women weren’t interested in him and Harrold’s awkwardness was working against him. Dolly the matchmaker sent him up on another date. This time he was set up with Amber.
Amber didn’t feel attracted to him right away. She said that can come later. The problem seemed to start when she asked what he does for leisure. Harrold was often doing so much that he counted coming to Singapore to meet Amber as leisure. It left her wondering if he has any downtime.
American Amber was having fun in Ireland. Her second date with Keavan was at a pub. They drank. They kissed. The attraction was there. The questions about the future was thrown in afterwards. Amber asked Keavan where he saw himself in ten years. He wouldn’t give her a clear answer.
She could answer it. She sees herself married with kids in ten years. Keavan wasn’t sure. He wanted to take it day by day. It told her nothing of his goals. Amber was torn about what to do with Keavan. She likes him. She just doesn’t think there’s a future for them.
Sarah’s date meanwhile took a turn. Freddy took her to his favorite restaurant. It happened to be in the Red Light District and Sarah felt uncomfortable going there.
She also didn’t like what it implied about Freddy if he was there long enough to try the food. Then there was the food. He got her to try frog porridge. She felt bad for the frog until she tasted it and realized it tasted like chicken. She didn’t care for his beatboxing. Or that he lived with his mother in subsidized housing. Sarah was looking for someone more established in life and so she was upset with Dolly.
Sometimes they get upset with the matchmaker. The matchmakers tried to bring everything together, but they also test their clients a little bit to see if they’re willing to listen to advice.
Tony was open to change. He used to date whichever woman gave him a chance. Now, he wants to meet someone based on character and values. He put everything in Luiza’s care. The one line that couldn’t be crossed was short hair because he has it in his head that long hair equals more attention to oneself.
He agreed to wear a blindfold on a date. Dolly tried to tell Sarah to compromise. And Harrold had to admit he’s on the spectrum on next week’s episode.
Next week is looking good!
THE END!
