The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that, according to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), Summer Newman (Allison Lanier) is living her best life in Milan, getting romanced by a new hot male designer she’s hired for Marchetti.
As fans know, Summer rushed off to Italy after both Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egain) resigned from the company.
She was a tad freaked out at the idea that her two best employees were ditching her to help their boyfriends run their organizations, but in typical Summer-style, she put on a brave face and supported their decision.
As fans know, Allison Lanier has left the soap, and Soap Opera Digest (SOD) is reporting there’s no immediate plans to recast the Summer Newman role.
No Summer in Genoa City … anytime soon?
This might be okay for some weeks, maybe some months, but Summer is (was) an integral part of storylines, and fans know how dedicated she is to her son, Harrison Abbott (Redding Munsell).
Even a hot new Italian boyfriend wouldn’t keep her away from Harrison, and while video chats and trips back and forth may be okay for the short term, it wouldn’t be a long-term situation.
But what if Summer sends messages to her loved ones that she doesn’t want to come back and that she and her steamy new Italian boyfriend have decided to shack up in Milan full-time?
Will Phyllis and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) shrug this off?
Both were happy when they got the update that Summer was having a ton of fun in Milan, enjoying nice dinners out and a little romance on the side.
Their daughter has had a hard go, so it was nice to know she’s throwing caution to the wind and enjoying herself.
But would they be okay with Summer making a permanent change like this?
As Summer is so far away, who’s to say that she is safe. Is this new hot Italian boyfriend as great as he appears to be, or could he be earning Summer’s trust for a devious plan?
Could he be doing all he can to lower Summer’s guard for a potential kidnapping scheme?
At the end of the day, Summer is a Newman, and a kidnapping ploy could earn any potential kidnapper a nice hefty ransom payout.
The red flags could be presented slowly, but surely. At first, it may be that Summer is too busy to come back to Genoa City, then too busy for video chat with Harrison.
The Young and the Restless spoilers also hint that a kidnapping storyline could also buy some time on what the show wants to do with Summer.
It would not only unleash an explosive arc that launched drama for a number of characters onscreen, but it would also offer an explanation as to why Summer has been off canvas for so long.
