In tonight’s Boston Blue episode, Sean and Jonah couldn’t catch a break. They did their mourning checks on the homeless. They weren’t supposed to sleep on public benches or do drugs right out in the open. The guys checked on their friend. The same guy that they tried to convince to go to a drug program.

They were trying that morning when they found their friend dead. The drugs had won that battle. Jonah prayed over him. Sean called it in. They were depressed and feeling at a loss afterwards when there was a second incident. There was a woman who saw a young man with a gun. The cops pursued him. They stopped the one that was identified. And his partner got away.

The partner went deeper into Boston’s train tunnels. The second suspect was also armed. He tried to ditch the gun. It went off instead. It injured a young woman and a cop who had been on the train then came to believe the nearest guy to the gun was the shooter. He shot him. Officer McGee accidentally shot Officer Baker. Yeah, he shot a fellow cop.

It actually gets worse from there. There was a white cop who shot a decorated black cop. The white cop was also known to have a drinking problem and was considered hot head and angry at the world.

It still got worse. Officer McGee and his wife were victims of a mugging on that same train. The perps were a couple of young black men. They robbed the couple and scarred them forever.

McGee couldn’t move past it. He started drinking after that incident. He thought it was to help him cope. It only made him angrier about his situation. His wife left him. He nearly lost his job. His boss wouldn’t even defend him when he heard the charges because he was siding with Officer Baker. He worked with both men. He had more respect for Baker than he ever did McGee.

McGee wasn’t officer of the year. He was also suspected of shooting a man that was already on the ground. There were bullets in Baker’s back. It could’ve gone through his front to his back. Or a white cop shot a black man in the back and who was no danger to him. Danny and Lena interviewed McGee.

He doesn’t remember how many shots he fired. He doesn’t remember if he shot him in the back while he was already on the ground. Lena suspected he had been angry at the time. Maybe the journalists were right about him. He might’ve been triggered by his prior experience when he pulled his gun.

Still, his own boss not towing the blue line made things worse. Chief Lanigan refused to wait until the investigation either proved McGee’s guilt or cleared him. He wanted to rush ahead with an arrest. He said Baker was owed that much. He also tried to pressure Mae into signing off on it. He said that it was going to bring about protests and possibly riots. He didn’t care what anyone else had to say. Sarah convinced her mother to let the taskforce investigate to the full extent of the law. She didn’t want the media trying this case because they wouldn’t wait on evidence.

Chief Lanigan went around her by taking this case away from the taskforce. He had Internal Affairs investigate in place of them. He found someone claiming to be a witness. The same person that media tracked down first, who was enjoying being interviewed, and who had a record. Lanigan pointed out that doesn’t stop him from being a witness. It does if he lied. He got the media amped up better than cardio ever could. Well, Chief Lanigan chose to take his word on the matter. He had his men pick up this supposed witness while Jonah and Sean tracked down the real one.

Then the Chief handing it over to IA meant that everyone was going to keep McGee in prison. As it was investigated! Sarah knew this was the wrong step and so did Lena. They found the witness that the Chief was hiding. They spoke to him. They confirmed he was nowhere near the shooting. He was just faking it for the clout. The officers tracked down the real witness. His name is Isaac. He was an orphan living on the streets. The gangs were trying to recruit him. They beat him everytime he said no. He was hiding from them when a friend of Isaac told the cops how to find him. His purple bike.

The cops stopped him from getting jumped again. They saved his life and they got answers. Sure, McGee was traumatized. He shot a man until he was down on the ground and hen he stopped. He didn’t shoot him in the back. The other shooter that they should’ve been pursuing was caught by Danny and Lena. There will be no official charges against McGee and he got to meet Baker and a pastor so that they all work through this together.

But Sean has to work on answering his phone. Penny heard a cop was shot and she panicked. She went down to his office to see if he was still alive. He was. He just didn’t see his phone or so he said before he brought her to shabbat.

THE END!
