The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that we’ve got a chemistry test alert and an important question: Are Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Detective James Burrow (Matt Cohen) poised to become Y&R’s hot new pairing?
For starters, we should point out that Detective Burrow recently joined the GCPD, so he’s sticking around to become the go-to cop when a crime happens.
That’s great news since Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) isn’t there to be the show’s main detective anymore.
Now Detective Burrow can take the lead on tricky cases like the one that’s playing out with kidnapper Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Dominic Winters (Ethan Ray Clark).
We should also mention that in the February 10 episode, Detective Burrow encouraged Abby Winters (Melissa Ordway) and Devon Winters (Bryton James) to call him “James.”
Since Detective Burrow finally has a first name, it feels like the show’s making things a little more personal and setting the stage for James to potentially have a love interest.
It may take some time for all the pieces to fall into place, but it’d be nice to see James get a girlfriend at some point.
That brings us to the apparent chemistry test between James and Sharon toward the end of the February 10 episode.
Sharon was still blaming herself for not giving Mariah the support she needed, but James did his best to comfort her.
James also insisted that Mariah would be treated with respect and care once she was found, so that led to a sweet moment with Sharon.
Of course, we can’t ignore Sharon’s history of dating cops since she’s been drawn to so many over the years.
Sharon was romantically involved with Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton), Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) and Chance, so no one would be surprised if she fell for Detective Burrow next.
Part of Sharon will always love Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), but the show’s constantly delaying a real reunion between them.
If Nick and Sharon don’t have a true future as a couple, James could perhaps capture Sharon’s heart instead.
