The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Monday, August 17, reveals that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) will make a distress call while Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) strikes back at Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) shows off a hidden talent.
After Nate summons Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox) to his penthouse, she’ll learn he’s decided to move forward with the surgery and try to get back into medicine.
Stephanie will be excited for Nate and get him to consider coming back to the surgical team at the hospital.
Since Stephanie will suggest a celebratory meal, Nate will offer to cook for her.
That’ll lead to the two of them sharing some laughs over grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Stephanie will also call her orthopedic surgeon friend, who’ll agree to come to Genoa City for Nate’s consult after a conference in Chicago.
At Society on Monday’s Y&R episode, Lily will try to fire Billy, but he’ll counter that Lily and Cane will be the ones vacating the Chancellor office instead.
Billy will explain the whole situation regarding the loan John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) provided that went unpaid and how the company rightfully belongs to the Abbotts.
By the end of the day, Billy will insist they’ll have the necessary ammo to move forward with the takeover.
Billy will think Chancellor is finally going to be where it belongs now that he’ll be in charge.
Cane will wonder if this is some AI lie that Billy’s cooked up, but Billy will insist they’re going to see that the documents are legit.
As for Jill Abbott (last played by Lauren Koslow), Billy will assume she sold the company to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) because she wanted to protect her business reputation and get paid instead of giving up the company for nothing.
Billy will feel like Jill went ahead with that sale as part of the cover-up and didn’t mind screwing over her own son.
Cane won’t want to be part of any Jill trashing and will eventually join Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) over at the bar.
Meanwhile, Lily will promise Billy’s going to lose everything that matters to him if he moves ahead with all this.
Billy will eventually strut over to Cane and Holden to do a little more gloating about being in charge of Chancellor.
In Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) office at Jabot, he’ll shock Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) by bringing them up to speed on Billy’s Chancellor discovery.
Jack will mention that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) is meeting with their lawyers to see if ownership is enforceable.
Traci will be aghast over Billy wanting to take a company they don’t need and have no real connection to, especially since it’ll hurt Cane and Lily.
Ashley will initially agree with Jack about the fight for Chancellor not being worth it.
However, Ashley will later decide Billy won’t feel complete without Chancellor and that he’s going to fight for it whether they’re on board or not.
Jack runs Jabot, so Ashley will urge him to see that Billy wants something of his own and craves autonomy.
Nevertheless, Jack will argue that if Billy launches this battle, there could be mudslinging that affects John’s reputation.
Although Jack will refuse to allow that, Ashley and Traci will push him to see that he doesn’t need to feud with Billy after everything he’s already been through recently.
In the end, Jack will decide to just let Billy do what he’s going to do and avoid conflict with his brother.
Soon after, Cane will call to set up a meeting with Jack and will come to the office.
That’s where Cane will push for Jack, Traci and Ashley’s help to stop Billy’s takeover plan.
If Billy’s takeover plan moves forward, Cane will feel like they’re all going to regret it.
