The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Tuesday, September 22, reveals that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) will pump the brakes on Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) and reach out to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford).
Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) will also sacrifice time with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) to be there for Claire Newman (Hayley Eriin) instead.
At Society, Matt will tell himself that he’s not stalling and just wants one more drink for the road.
However, Matt will flash back through his whole romantic storyline with Phyllis and seem torn about leaving her behind.
After Patty texts Matt to hurry him along, he’ll tell her he needs a minute and warn her not to do anything crazy in the meantime.
At Crimson Lights, things will be tense when Phyllis bumps into Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), who’ll question her about whether she convinced Matt to stay.
Phyllis will eventually insist Matt is gone and make it clear that she doesn’t need Nick to rescue her.
Nick will acknowledge that he needs to stop playing hero, but he’ll still have concerns about Phyllis and her motives regarding Matt.
Phyllis will reflect on how Matt made her feel special when everyone else ostracized her, so Nick will have some sympathy.
That said, Nick won’t want to see Phyllis in pain and will warn that he won’t allow anyone to hurt her.
After Matt calls Phyllis unexpectedly, she’ll answer it despite Nick’s disapproval.
Matt will want to see Phyllis, but she’ll struggle with trust issues and demand to know what kind of game he’s playing.
At the tack house, Claire will notice that Victoria is in a good mood.
Victoria will cover up the fact that she’s been texting with Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and claim someone in accounting sent her a meme involving an inside joke.
Claire will end up getting a notification on her phone for Jordan’s (Colleen Zenk) birthday, so that’ll stir up difficult past memories of who she used to be.
After Victoria reassures Claire about her transformation, she’ll decide they should go do something fun together.
Victoria will act like she’s canceling a work lunch to spend time with Claire, but she’ll secretly text Kyle to bail on their plans instead.
At the athletic club, Y&R spoilers say Stephanie Simmons (Vivica A. Fox) will meet up with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) for a midday meal.
Since Stephanie will seem cagey about Holden Novak (Nathan Owens), Nate will call her out for acting weird.
Stephanie will admit she doesn’t know how to tell Holden that she lied to him since she’s more than friends with Nate.
Although Nate will argue that things changed between them, Stephanie will still feel like Holden wasn’t wrong about the vibe he witnessed.
Nate won’t be opposed to calling what they’re doing dating and will help Stephanie rehearse how to break the news to Holden.
Due to the past conflict over Holden’s Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers) impersonation, Nate will also consider whether he should be the one to talk to him.
Stephanie will help Nate rehearse that conversation as well, but she’ll acknowledge that all this can wait until Holden gets back from a London trip with Malcolm Winters (Shemar Moore).
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Nate and Stephanie’s relationship will come with some curveballs, so stay tuned.
