The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Vivica A. Fox is taking a break from her role as Stephanie Simmons in Genoa City.
Since Fox is stepping away from Y&R, we should discuss what that means for Stephanie and Nate Hastings’ (Sean Dominic) budding relationship.
Based on what Vivica A. Fox shared in her Instagram stories recently, she’s “going away for a couple of months” to work on a new movie called Women Like Us.
Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis and Vanessa Williams will be joining Fox in this Netflix comedy, so the film comes with a star-studded cast.
Fox originally signed on for an eight-episode return gig, but it turned into a sixth-month stint at the CBS soap.
Although Fox is taking a leave of absence to do this flick, she offered a “see you soon” to her Y&R family.
It certainly sounds like Fox intends to come back and step into Stephanie’s shoes again once she wraps filming on this new movie.
However, Stephanie’s time away may affect Nate’s storyline since they recently shared their first kiss.
It’s clear that Nate and Stphanie have feelings for each other, but their romance will have to be cut short or at least put on hold while Fox is filming elsewhere.
It’s possible Stephanie could leave town to care for an ill family member or something along those lines.
It’s also possible the show will just work around Fox’s absence and have Stephanie busy with hospital duties off-screen in Genoa City.
Nate could continue his romance with Stephanie off-screen as well if that’s how Y&R wants to play this.
That said, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if Stephanie and Nate decided they work better as friends instead of lovers.
Whatever the case, Fox won’t be available for filming in GC while she’s off doing this Netflix movie, so the show will have to make some adjustments one way or another.
