The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Michael Mealor is back on contract, so Kyle Abbott’s long-term return has been confirmed. According to SOD, Mealor indeed signed on for a lengthy Y&R comeback, so it’s good to know it’s official!
Of course, Kyle is currently living in Milan with Summer Newman (Hunter King) and Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez), but he’ll have a great reason to get back in the Genoa City action soon.
Once Kyle learns his mother is alive and well, he’ll have questions that only Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) can answer.
“Taylor Jensen” aka Diane has been talking about how family is the most important thing, so she’ll no doubt want to reconnect with Kyle and get to know Harrison.
Will Summer be convinced to leave her dream job behind and plant roots in GC once again?
The show released a casting call in hopes of putting a new actress on contract as Summer, which makes even more sense considering this news about Michael Mealor.
With Mealor on contract, it’s reasonable for the show to want some version of Summer on contract, too.
It’s possible the show could still work something out with Hunter King, but right now the plan seems to be starting fresh with a Summer recast.
That’ll put Phyllis Summers’ (Michelle Stafford) daughter back on canvas and allow Summer to join all this Diane drama.
Since Phyllis and Diane hate each other, Summer could land in a tight spot.
Summer will want to support Kyle if he ultimately forgives Diane for her deadly deception, but she’ll also be protective of her mom.
If Diane’s hatred extends to Summer, then she’ll inevitably have some issues with her mother-in-law.
Summer never expected that she’d have to deal with “dead” Diane, but she’ll definitely have to now that Diane’s return is Y&R’s hottest story.
No matter what happens with Summer down the road, Michael Mealor’s return on contract has been confirmed.
That certainly gives fans a reason celebrate and have hope for the future of “Skyle.”
