The Young and the Restless (Y&R) recap for Wednesday, September 2, reveals that Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) will spell out what she thinks might be happening between Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Matt Clark (Roger Howarth).
Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will also give up Chancellor for now, so here’s what Y&R fans can expect.
At Crimson Lights, Billy will dote on Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), whose baby ordeal was a false alarm.
Sally only had round ligament pain, which is perfectly normal during this stage of her pregnancy.
Even so, this will be wake-up call for Sally since the stress of the situation with Chancellor isn’t helping.
Sally will insist something has to give, so Billy will agree to surrender his Chancellor fight until after the baby’s born.
Once Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) comes along and makes sure Sally is OK along with the baby, she’ll talk to her privately.
Sally will end up quizzing Audra about her lingering connection to Noah Newman (Lucas Adams), but Audra won’t think it matters now that Noah is gone.
Audra will seem discouraged over her disastrous love life, but Sally will offer a pep talk.
Sally will also give Audra the news that Billy has decided to give up his Chancellor fight for now, but she’ll hope he might surrender it for good once the baby arrives.
At Lily Winters’ (Christel Khalil) penthouse, Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) will fish for answers about whether they’re a couple again and how public they’re going to make it.
Cane will get that maybe they need to take their time and handle it delicately with the twins.
Billy will ultimately arrive and come barging in with a big announcement.
After Billy admits Sally had an emergency that shook him up, he’ll insist he’s giving up the Chancellor fight and doesn’t need this in his life.
Billy won’t admit the temporary part, but Cane and Lily will suspect he’ll resume his Chancellor mission after the birth anyway.
With that in mind, Lily and Cane will want to keep digging for more secrets so they can be ready.
At Society, Lauren will fill Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) in on Phyllis growing closer to Matt and accusing Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) of making him disappear.
Lauren will speculate that since Phyllis couldn’t control madman Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins), she’s trying to control another madman instead and prove things can be different.
Michael will suggest maybe Phyllis could actually pull off a miracle with Matt’s reformation, but Lauren will worry they’re going to destroy each other instead.
In Matt’s motel room, Phyllis will embrace him and find the crumpled farewell letter he wrote.
Phyllis will also find out Matt went to Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) for advice, so he’ll insist he’s nothing like that monster.
Since Matt actually wants to change and be a better person, Phyllis won’t think he’s like psycho Patty.
Phyllis will set some rules and argue that the next time Matt spins out, he should come to her and not someone locked up in a prison for the criminally insane!
Phyllis will hint about falling for Matt and make it clear that if he’s going to say goodbye, he has to do it to her face.
Matt will rip up the letter and strip down for passion with Phyllis, who’ll plan to make everyone else see him the way she does.
