Stephen Stavros was the son of a prominent Miami family. Yet he was spotted being belligerent coming out of a club on the night he died. So Miami PD doesn’t want to touch this case. They don’t want to be the ones to tell the late Stavros’s father, a very important man and one they can’t afford to upset, that his son died from an overdose.

Thus the captain decided to hand the autopsy over to Rosewood and he even assigned Villa to oversee the case. Villa is a talented detective but no one really likes. Nor do they want to necessarily get assigned as the same case as her. So the captain figured Rosewood would be great for her. He could be a partner and not actually a partner all at the same time.

And Rosewood and his associates found something odd in Stavros’s autopsy. They found out it wasn’t a drug overdose that killed the man. Rather it was sulfur in combination with an acupuncture treatment. Though no cardiologist would have ever taken such a risk.

But Stavros had been telling people prior to his death that he was no longer Dr. Foster’s patient. Which Foster denied during his initial interview with Villa and Rosewood. So Villa looked into their relationship and she found out that her victim had been looking at lawyers in a possibly malpractice suit.

So she thought Foster was her guy and Rosewood appeared to have that same idea. He hadn’t liked the way Foster described his patient almost as if he hated the younger man who did used to do drugs. Stavros was in fact big on the party city however Foster was in charge of fixing him up afterwards. And Rosewood felt their oaths as doctors should have been enough for Foster to treat Stavros with respect even in death.

Only neither Rosewood nor Villa were given the chance to look into Foster properly. Stavros’s father pull the plug on their investigation when he asked the captain to stop harassing the family doctor and then made it known that he wanted to bury his son as soon as possible. So the Stavros family didn’t want anyone digging deeper into what happened to their son who they felt was an addict that would have died anyway. And the father wasn’t afraid to publicly shame the captain if their little talk wasn’t enough.

So Villa was caged in and more she tried to fight it – the closer she got to losing her job. Not even her captain would defend her and for a second it looked Foster was going to get away with everything he did. Which at the time could have meant the murder of Stavros and another patient as well.

Stavros turned out not to be the only one that died right before they filed a lawsuit for malpractice.

And in amidst of the investigation, Rosewood was having a personal crisis. An ex-girlfriend had written him to say that she had his kid and that the same kid was one vandalizing all of his billboards. However, after panicking for a few day, it turns out the ex just wanted him to think about kids because earlier he said he wasn’t ready. And if he suddenly had kids on the brain now then she was going to worm her way back into his life.

In other words the woman was crazy. Though for a short amount of time she did give Rosewood’s mother the hope of a grandchild. The older woman had retired and she didn’t how to spend the rest of her says. Rosewood hired her part-time to come work at the lab and ultimately he figure out a way to catch Foster in the act.

Foster was a good doctor but so was Rosewood. Thus Rosewood went to him to check out his heart and he merely pretended to take the medication that Foster offered. And then when he was pretending to be ill, he watched as Foster intentionally drugged him with something that would have killed him and made it look like a heart attack.

But what Foster didn’t know was that Villa and officers were waiting right outside the door and heard everything he said. That they could then use to explain Stavros’s death as well as getting a warrant to exhume the body of his other victim. So Foster sunk himself and Rosewood had nearly killed himself in order to get the other man to that point.

Yet he said it was all worth it to remove Foster from his position of power.

And as for Villa, she could have taken all the credit with the Stavros family but she didn’t. Instead she told them that it was her captain that was at the heart of their investigation even though the captain would have been the first to throw her under the bus.

So Villa took the high road and it looks like she’s getting better at making friends. She and Rosewood have developed their own circle of trust and she congratulated him on giving his new girlfriend room in his closet.

THE END!
