Miss Colombia is not counting out the possibility that the Miss Universe pageant was rigged. Ariadna Gutierrez has finally gone public and admitted to being humiliated after winning and then losing the Miss Universe Crown.
Is it possible that the announcement of the wrong winner was a publicity stunt, designed to gain more press for the pageant?
“If that was the goal, they succeeded,” Gutierrez said in regard to a possible plot to increase ratings for the Miss Universe pageant. Miss Colombia spoke to W Radio recently about her de-crowning in front of the whole world. There has been a lot of speculation that pageant organizers may have planned the accident heard around the world in order to drum up higher ratings for the show.
When Steve Harvey apologized and announced that Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach was the real winner, Guterriez thought Harvey was joking. Ariadna explained, “this is going to be a joke because in the rehearsals he used to play around with questions and I thought he was going to continue with that same tone to make people laugh.”
It turned out not to be a joke at all. Miss Colombia was devastated as the crown was removed from her head and placed on Pia Wurtzbach’s head instead. That had to be the worst thing a beauty pageant hopeful could ever imagine happening and Ariadna Guterriez was forced to live out her nightmare in front of the whole world.
After video of Steve Harvey’s epic blunder went viral, millions of viewers watched and laughed as Miss Colombia was award the winner and then stripped of her crown on live television.
In the interview with W Radio, Gutierrez touched some issues that may have been going on backstage with the real Miss Universe winner Miss Philippines. There have been whispers of tension between Pia Wurtzbach and some of the Latina contestants. “It was very humiliating for me, but also for the whole country and for all the people not only from Colombia but the other Latinos that were in the auditorium.”

It’s pretty safe to say that Gutierrez has suffered the most out of everyone involved in the Miss Universe pageant. Of course, Steve Harvey was embarrassed but he hasn’t lost anything. Actually, Harvey came out a winner in all of this because he’ll be back to host the pageant again.
