Party Pieces is a hugely popular party supply business that’s based in London and was founded in 1987 by Carole Middleton. Back then Carole wanted a way to support her family that kept her close to home, as she had previously spent years as a stewardess for British Airways. The family business more than took off, as it has paved the way for the three Middleton children to attend elite schools, have ritzy homes and vacation regularly in paradise.
Eventually most every big business gets rocked my a bit of scandal and this week it’s Party Piece’s turn. According to an investigation set in motion by The Daily Mail, the company appears to have embraced slave labor when it came time to mass produce one of their popular candy filled pinata items. As it turns out the items are being made in the Mexican hillside ghettos outside of Tijuana and the people are being paid as little as 15 cents an hour!
A spokeman for Party Pieces said that they are taking the allegations very seriously and that they are working to ensure that investigations into these claims are properly carried out. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if slave labor was part of what is helping to mass produce Party Pieces’ inventory. I would however be a bit shocked if the Middleton’s actually knew about it. This has grown into a hugely successful with 30 employees and work is delegated. While Carole may have started the business, 25 years later I’m sure she has scaled back her involvement quite a bit. The company no doubt now (usually) runs like a well-oiled machine and she now has other things to invest time in, such as that royal grandchild that’s due in a few months!

Queen Elizabeth must be appalled to learn that another stain is spreading onto the royal family, this time courtesy of the commoner Middletons. If Pippa Middleton isn’t shooting up Paris and Kate Middleton isn’t stripping down on holiday then it’s her own grandson, Prince Harry, drunk, stoned and naked having his picture taken in Las Vegas. Is this what comes of being brought up with too much money, poor judgement, and no class?
