Angelina Jolie's Maleficent Workout Involved Strict Yoga Practice - She Hated It!

During her promotion of Maleficent, Angelina Jolie revealed that her workout to prepare her for her high-flying role as the dark fairy was brutal. But not in the way you might think. Her regimen consisted of a strict yoga practice, a form of exercise that, she’ll admit, she despises. According to a recent interview, she claims she doesn’t have the willpower to sit still!

Angie worked with her regular stunt coordinator Eunice Huthart (also the godmother of Shiloh) to get her core in shape so she’d be able to perform the acrobatic, mid-air routines during Maleficent’s flights. “She made me do yoga. And I have no patience for yoga. It’s not something I do easily, because I’m not a still person. But I was forced to do yoga because [to fly] you have to have your core strength to be able to hold yourself.”

The actress continues in her statements to Entertainment Weekly, “You’re almost like a puppet with all these people moving [beneath you]. When you go to the left or the right all of you have to move together. It’s a big dance with a lot of people.”

Even though the yoga practice was tough work, by no means is she complaining about her job, or the role, which she’s excited to bring to the screen. “I feel like the luckiest girl in the world that I get to fly. I really feel like I’m flying!”
