The whole Selfies habit is becoming a dangerous one to have on tonight’s episode of Criminal Minds. The team is dealing with an UnSub that’s specifically targeting people with large social media followings. The UnSub’s first victim was a sixteen year old. Her name was Tara and she was a bit of a brat. Though that doesn’t mean she deserved what happened to her. She was murdered in her bedroom and then the killer proceeded to take a selfie of her dead body before posting it on Instagram.

So the team headed down to Maryland to investigate this most usual case.

From all appearances, Tara was obsessed with social media. She would even post inappropriate photos of herself online. When her father had found out about one of these photos – he grounded her. And poor Tara had gone back online to rant to her followers. She was asking them to send her videos of what she could do to upset her parents (the same ones that had gone out for the night) when she was attacked.

And, later, Tara’s death led to the reemergence of an urban legend. There’s a myth about the Mirror Man targeting people that have posted selfies and because the legend has gone viral – everyone is scared. This guy would get his hands on someone’s selfie and then Photoshop an image into it that meant they were next.

One of Tara’s friends had to fill the team in about the legend. Apparently, after Tara was murdered, he and many other started to take down their selfies and clear out their Instagram pages.

But with all the press Tara’s murder has been generating – the killer has been getting what he wanted all along. And that’s press. The UnSub wants to be famous and the media isn’t helping extinguish that need. They’re actually pushing him into killing someone else just so that he could keep the show rolling.

Hotch had tried issuing a media blackout but the internet essentially has a life of its own. No one could stop from continuing to generate the story so the UnSub did pick a second victim. Another unfortunate social media star!

Alexander Chase was killed from inside of his own car. The UnSub had targeted him using a nail gun thereby changing his MO. He had killed his first victim with a piece of mirror so the team deciphered their killer was still working out all the kinks at this stage.

The team thought they had time in between the kills but the UnSub once again acted out of character by later killing a third victim before the team had even had time to finish their original profile on him. In the beginning they thought, the UnSub must be between ages 30 – 40. Yet that all changed after victim number three.
The Unsub has chosen the third victim, another teenager by the name of Daniel, after the kid had posted a video online taunting the Mirror Man.

Though targeting the kid for no other reason than taunting him did give the team some insight. It had showed a lot of immaturity on the Unsub’s part. Almost as if he was merely reacting like a child. Meaning his age had to be lowered from a man in his thirties to possibly a kid in High School. And once they had corrected their profile and begun searching for people matching it – they found someone.

A kid named Connor was writing about the Mirror Man long before the killings started to happen. And he had worked at the mall which all three victims were recently spotted at prior to their deaths. But ultimately Connor wasn’t the killer. It seems he was simply the creator of Mirror Man. Not the one trying to bring Mirror Man to life!

Connor had wanted to make his own urban legend and he manage to do that with a help of a friend. However his friend, who’s younger than him and who looked up to him as mentor, had taken the idea of Mirror Man beyond their original parameters. The friend had wanted to immortalize Connor so he began killing in the Mirror Man’s name. He had honestly believed his friend would come to appreciate the honor.

But Connor wasn’t a killer. Nor did he have any of those tendencies. He was just a kid with a computer and a love of horror films. So he turned on his friend. He had started to hang out with William after William had lost both of his parents yet their friendship didn’t extend to enabling a murderer.

When Morgan and JJ found William, he had run from them. And while they were pursuing him – Will managed to get his hands on a hostage.

Morgan had attempted to talk William down but once William saw the media pull up – he lost all interests in listening to Morgan and only wanted to get a good angle for the cameras. So Morgan had no choice. He had to take the shot when he saw it.

He shot William and luckily no one was seriously injured. But William still doesn’t seem to understand what he did. He took a selfie of himself from inside of the hospital just so he could show off his gunshot wound!

After such a disturbing day, Morgan went home to Savannah and he gave her a key to his place. Consequently, he realized he didn’t want to spend the rest of his life alone.

William had showed him what loneliness can cause.

THE END!
