Morgan is going over one of their old cases. He has to decide whether or not a survivor from their case in Upstate New York is capable (emotionally fit) of taking the stand. Daria is her name and she’s currently residing in a mental facility. At the time of her rescue she was too injured to be of any real help and even now when she’s physically fine; the games her tormentor pulled such as beating his victims and terrorizing them have taken a toll. It’s been a while since then and she’s still not all there yet.

Daria is only pushing through her own trauma now because she wants to help put the killer behind bars. And she’s hoping that her cooperation will help her get better as well.

Daria had escape from the killer as part of another victim’s plan to leave, but the other girl, Carrie, fell while they were trying to escape. Unfortunately she couldn’t get back up on her own and Daria knew she didn’t have enough time to help and so she set off by herself. She was soon hit by a car and the driver had the decency to bring her to the hospital. Once she was safe, Daria did try to tell the BAU about Carrie. In between the times she wasn’t freaking out over JJ resemblance to her friend that is but she definitely cared about her friend.

Her reappearance was what helped the BAU tracked down their killers. Without her they were all over the place with the killer’s motivation and they couldn’t even figure out if it was one killer or two. So after they identified Daria – they were able to trace her last steps. Daria’s sister was with her in the days leading up to her disappearance and so she was able to be of more help. She told them Daria had met a handsome guy who showed her a lot of attention. She also gave them identifying makers leading to this guy who as it happened turned out to be one of the killers. That man’s name was Joe.

He was charming and so Daria thought nothing of it by going out on a date with him. Although she did leave that part out originally during her first testimony. Fast forward to the present and Morgan askes her why she felt the need to lie about how she was abducted and Daria told him that she didn’t want to admit she was in love with him.

Joe acted in a dominate/subservient relationship with a second killer and they had teamed up to go on a murderous rampage. Yet their relationship changed after Daria escaped. It seems like the dominant killer known as Joe had a “special” place for Daria seeing as he kept her longer than everyone else. So when he lost her; he started killing more viciously and randomly. That went against everything his partner believed in such as order.

Daria told them the partner, Coby, was very OCD about the way he helped Joe kill people. Everything had to be in the exact same spot (even the stab wounds on their victims) and according to Daria he constantly cleaned everything.

All the stabbing was done to replicate Joe’s childhood abuse. His aunt had tortured him when he was little by locking him up in a room without food for days. And when she did pay attention to him it was only to sick hundreds of bees at him. The marking of where he was stung is a replica to how the victims were stabbed. Or better yet how Coby stabbed them.

However the team captured Coby before they could get their hands on Joe and oddly enough the man was completely forthcoming. Which could only mean two things – either he’s a sociopath or he’s actually innocent despite what Daria said.

Coby claimed to have no idea about Joe. He said that they only see each other in passing for the occasional poker game. Though he does know Daria. He had met her a few times over by Joe’s. She was Joe’s girlfriend. That didn’t have to mean anything because a lot of victims can be given special privileges, but after Reid had looked at the messy state the other man was in he soon realize this man wasn’t the one with OCD and therefore couldn’t possibly be the second killer.

The team captured Joe and they were able to free Carrie, but the mystery remained with who was Joe’s real partner?

Morgan had figured it out after he gone back to the hospital to Daria again. He picked up on the way she needed everything neat and tidy around. And so he asked her some leading questions like where the murder weapon was. Still sticking to her story that it was Coby; she told him where they hid the ice pick, but the few finger prints still on it didn’t belong to Coby. In the end it was Morgan that had to tell a very confused and damaged young woman that she was the one that helped Joe kill people.

Daria hadn’t taken the news well and she soon spiraled back into her delusional world. It was the only way she could forget Joe threatening Carrie to get her to kill people. But as Morgan finds out when he visited her at the psychiatric hospital it was more than just that.

Daria admitted that she helped Joe kill because she was in love with him and if he were to ask her again then she would still kill for him.

Morgan now knows he can’t use her for trial. If she were to take the stand then all she would be doing is hurting herself. So no, he thought it was best if she stayed where she was. As he told her sister, it was the safest place for her.
