Jane is at a really good point in her life. She recently heard back from a publisher and they seem to be actually interested in one of her short stories. But there’s a downside to finally getting the validation she’s always wanted.

The topic of the short story is a single mother who happens to have the bad habit of chasing after all the wrong guys. So basically it’s a fictional story that no one is going to believe is fictional. They’re just way too much information about Jane’s own mother XO in there to let anyone doubt who’s the story is really about.

So that’s that. At least for Jane. She has her validation and she doesn’t need to risk her relationship with her mother to prove anything else.

And yet Jane’s story isn’t the only good news she’s had lately. She had her thirteen week check-up and the baby has been doing well. The doctor has even said the pregnancy is progressing normally. But then Petra showed up at the appointment and ruined everything.

It looks like Petra has some legal ground in getting custody of Jane’s baby so the other woman is going to use that to win a bigger payout in her divorce. Though Jane doesn’t simply want to pay her off. She doesn’t like the idea of using money to get rid of her problems so Rafael promised her he would find a legal way to shut Petra down.

And while he was looking for that, Petra went to the news with her story and painted herself like the victim. That and her new high priced lawyer spells out a long drawn out legal process ahead and sadly Jane realized she didn’t want that either. She just wanted everything done with. So when Michael later found her crying about her situation – he came off as the knight in shining armor when he offered to help.

Michael wants Jane to investigate Petra for him. He told her that Petra was still a suspect in her lover’s murder and all Jane would have to do if find some information linking her to the crime. But Rafael hadn’t liked accepting Michael’s offer. He felt Michael had a scheme in his back pocket and as it turns out Rafael was right.

Michael honestly doesn’t believe it was Petra behind Zazo’s murder. His recent theory is that Rafael was the one that bumped off his friend.

Michael has been looking for notorious drug kingpin Sin Rostro and he suspects Rafael of being Sin Rostro. Though isn’t like he merely created things to remove a rival. There is some connections between the two men.

When Rafael was sick, Sin Rostro went underground. And he only returned after Rafael got better so there is something to Michael’s theory. His partner on the other hand suspects Michael’s judgment is clouded so she told Michael she wasn’t going to back him up to pursue it.

Hence Michael decided to go rogue. He got his shady brother to look into Rafael for him and, well, Billy got his wires crossed. Billy ended up stealing Rafael’s wallet and though Michael hadn’t liked his initiative – he did get something useful. Rafael had stitched a secret key into his wallet. And Michael used that key and found several passports Rafael has been hiding.

So Michael feels like he was right about Rafael but he can’t do anything about it without a search warrant except warn Jane. Which didn’t really go down all that well because she thought he was simply being jealous.

Though there was one good thing that came from Michael’s involvement and that was him helping to fix the Petra problem. Jane went through with her sting and she found out that Petra has been lying about her identity. So Rafael did some digging and he learned that the real Petra died in 2008 and unless the woman claiming to be Petra wants her pass coming out – she had to sign the divorce papers.

And Petra readily agreed to so. It seems her secret could actually end up killing her if it ever got out. Especially to the wrong people. Some years ago, Petra had left the Czech Republic after she broke up with guy named Milos and retaliated by trying throw acid on her face and hitting her mother by accident.

Magda was so shocked by the incident she wondered out into the street and that’s how she lost the use of her legs. So Petra has always felt bad about what happened and seeing as Milos was too protected by the police – she and her mother went on the run. Petra wanted to go on the run again when her secret came out, but Magda told her “no”. She said she would take care of things.

Meanwhile, Jane went with her family to attend the annual Latin Soap Opera awards. Her father did win that night but after Jane told him she made a bet on him winning – he felt like he did.

It appears that deep down Rogelio is a softie. Besides thinking about himself, he had arranged for Xo to meet her idol Paulina Rubio at the afterparty. He did that after he heard her latest audition was a bit of a bust up. And his plan worked. Xo had felt like given up on her dreams then out of nowhere she saw Paulina who encouraged her to keep singing.

Yet the drama is never over on this show. Xo’s mother Alba had gotten drunk at the afterparty and that gave her all the liquid courage she needed.

Alba went to go find Petra and she walked in on a hostage situation. So Alba quickly fled hoping to get help and chose to take the stairs when she thought it would be the fastest. Sadly for her, though, Magda pushed her down those same convenient stairs.

It seems like Magda never lost the ability to walk but she has gotten really good at guilt tripping her old child!

Plus Michael found out something pretty interesting in regards to his latest investigation!

THE END!
