The Young and the Restless Michael Muhney Denies Hunter King's Breast Groping Allegations - Says "Believe NONE Of What You Hear"

After Michael Muhney was fired from The Young and the Restless mere weeks before his contract ended fans were in a uproar, and rightfully so. For all they knew a beloved character, Adam Newman, has been axed unceremoniously. Upon further review of the situation, it was revealed that Michael Muhney was let go because female costar Hunter King accused him of fondling her breasts and demanded that he be fired months earlier.

Since the incident occurred, Muhney has been relatively quiet, he did however break his silence when he tweeted “Benjamin Franklin said it best, ‘Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see.’…and that quote doesn’t only apply to what is being said about ME. It also applies to others. Please be kind to everyone. #respect“.

That statement is saying very little and that’s probably a good thing, there are too many aspects to this story including the accusation that Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps is on some Machiavellian crusade to kill the soaps we all grew up watching by either making fan favorites un-recognizable or killing them off completely.

The plot further thickens when former show runner Maria Arena Bell suggests that Michael Muhney has a history of bad behavior and should have been let go ages ago. She suggests that Jill Farren Phelps knew of impropriety but chose to make dealing with the situation advantageous to the storyline by making the character of Adam hated. That seems to have backfired and all we have are angry fans and a potential victim forced to face the alleged groper even after his inappropriate behavior was reported.

This whole thing is sad all around, what do you guys think? Was Hunter King’s safety put on the back burner in favor of logistics for the show? Frankly there are probably specs of truth here and there – this situation much like the storylines on soaps is certainly not black or white. Sexual harassment is serious, especially when the actors act out love scenes as frequently as these actors do. It’s a shame that Hunter King was forced to deal with such a hostile workplace, especially in favor of a plan which has seemed to backfire leaving nothing but angry fans and disgruntled employees.

If he did it, he deserves what he got. What a shame by a good actor. But good acting does not excuse behavior like this.

This is….the entertainment industry. Not a unique story….and more common than most people would suspect.

I was initially angry with his dismissal. However, after everything that I have read on MANY websites, I think he should have been fired a long time ago and that Jill Farren Phelps and Angelica Mcdaniel need to be fired immediately because they covered it up and leaked the victim’s name to make sure that she, not they, received the wrath of fans.

I do however agree that both Jill Farren Phelps and Angelica McDaniels should both be fired! Whatever happened in this whole ugly ‘he said, she said’ mess, they handled it horribly for everyone concerned. None of it should have been leaked for any reason. No matter if either one are guilty or innocent of any or all of it. It should have never been made public, both MM and HK’s reputations have been damaged by this. It has also ruined the show for many fans who have loved the show for years. Who knew what an ugly, backstabbing business this was? Wow, more drama than some of the actual storylines.

  4. […] thing is for sure, the scandal involving the firing of Michael Muhney from The Young and the Restless isn’t going away anytime soon. Instead it seems that every time someone new chimes in it […]

Muhney is very talented and as a female I do not believe the accusations from Hunter King. She may have acted like Potiphar’s wife and pursued Muhney and it backfired on HER so out of humiliation she makes these ridiculous allegations. Y&R needs Michael Muhney as the main ingredient to bring back the shows success because Eric Braeden is losing his MOJO! After 30 years I am done with Y&R and the incestual love triangles. Just gross!

  6. Rosalea Moore says:

I agree with you. Any person would’ve either slapped him silly or punched him in the stomach, not wait until it happens again then go crying to Eric Braeden. Most likely he did not do it and I am waiting to here about the lawsuit MM will file. I feel very, very, very sorry for any man who gets hit with a false sexual harrassment allegation. Take care!

I will definitely be tuning out. The only reason I started to watch Y&R when I retired a year ago was because of Michael Muhney. He is a fantastic actor and still amazes me with the emotion he brings to each and every scene.

Adam needs to turn himself in to show his son that he has become a better man. He can then reveal that Victor already knew that Adam was the driver and was blackmailing him instead of turning him into the authorities. Victor is a pompous ass. He claims that everything he does is for his family but in fact sticking it to Jack or Adam is his sole reason for living.

I enjoy Adam’s relationship with Jack because it adds another dimension to his character outside of being Victor’s son. It shows he can be a true friend no matter what. Remember how he helped Sharon get healthy regardless of the cost to his marriage. Jack is a better role model for a father than Victor. The Jack/Victor story line has been getting old for a long time so Jack and Adam becoming close brings a new twist.

On another note, I also think Hunter King is the best young actor/actress on the show.

I would like to know how much effort was put into resolving the problems on set with the actors. After all this is a work place and problems should be dealt with in a professional manner. If there was something inappropriate happening on the set, deal with in properly. And everyone deserves a second chance. The fans obviously like Michael Muhney and every effort should have been made to keep him there.

As I said, I will be tuning out as soon as Michael Muhney finishes his last scene.

This show lost two key stars in one week. What the hell? It ain’t gonna ever be the same, I don’t care how much time goes by. BAD, BAD MOVE!!

Just please bring Michael Muhney back and Billy.
